Indemnity insurance for new boiler/windows with no building regs?

Sounds like you got lucky then. It probably depends on the time between install and your request to register. How long was it? Once you go over the one year limit for servicing, the warranty is normally voided.silvercar said:
We bought a house where the seller provided a gas safety certificate unprompted but there was no installation registration. We registered it with the manufacturer to get the warranty when we moved in. When they queried why it hadn’t been registered before I just explained that we had only just moved in and I had no knowledge of what the previous owner did or didn’t do. They accepted that. While under warranty it did develop a fault and they did fix it free of charge.macman said:I would be extremely concerned if the boiler install is not GSR registered. If done by a GSR registered installer, there is no possible reason for no cert. It means a) the installer may not be competent, and is working illegally, b) the install may not be safe, and c) the boiler warranty (which can be up to ten years) will automatically be void.

Nearer to 2 years, definitely at least 18 months. I seem to recall I paid to extend the warranty at the same time.macman said:

Then you got very lucky indeed, as that effectively extended the warranty by at least 18m and dodged the issue of missing at least one annual service.silvercar said:

These indemnity policies (which I expect will be the subject of a future mis-selling scandal) are almost always of the "let sleeping dogs lie" nature, not to be purchased then used as a get out of jail card.Signature on holiday for two weeks0

Maybe it would have come with a few years warranty anyway, so they were happy I was paying for something I could have got free, if the boiler had been registered??macman said:
