How could I protect my purchase?

I find a sofa I wish to purchase from this out let in Deeside.
It is called www.sofa-home.co.uk.
I am suggested to pay cash by the sale person there as he claims they have had a bad experience with card.
Will I be protected in the same way as a credit card with my purchase if pay through PayPal?
Or could I pay with my credit card into my PayPal account to purchase this sofa? to have protection?

Just looked at the website and tried going through the motions to buy. At checkout they only accept Paypal or cash on delivery.
Not a very professional website either. I would avoid.1 -
The sofa is priced at £2350.00
Sofa-Home is not accepting credit card. Could I have same protection if I pay through PayPal?

PayPal often breaks the link as far as protection is concerned. The transaction is to pay PayPal a set amount, so that's what would be protected. Whatever PayPal do with your money isn't the concern of the CC company.
Wonder what their bad experience was.1 -

No, I don't believe they would.

If they don't accept cards, why does their website suggest they do?
Why doesn't their website have any company details on it?1
