You haven’t mentioned your own age, but if you are under state pension age you may be eligible for Bereavement Support payments. They are not means tested. You need to apply within 3 months of your husband’s death.
I only found out because I was unable to use Tell Us Once in my area, so I had to call the DWP to ask them to stop paying my husband’s pension, and they told me. I had an occupational pension and some savings so I didn’t think I’d be entitled to anything.0 -
You don’t have to apply within 3 months but if you apply later you get less money.J63320 said:You haven’t mentioned your own age, but if you are under state pension age you may be eligible for Bereavement Support payments. I have had two payments and now received the letters 8 days after they are dated and 6 days after the payments.I can tell you what was on the bank statement and what was in the letters:[NInumber] DWP PSCS "State Pension (Contributory"[NInumber] DWP ISCS "Pension Credit"Both were posthumous payments. He must have been paid in arrears, but they stopped making payments immediately after his death.
