I've saved it to my card! Though I know not much, but shame it's gone up to £15 spend opposed to the previous £10, and only five times.

    Inflation I guess  :'(

How did people get on, this time around?

I had the offer saved on my card, used it at a participating retailer but I didn't seem to get an email confirmation of the qualifying transaction.

And there's no sign of the £5 credit yet either.

No e-mail confirmations, but all expected credits were applied within a week or so.  Including one from a restaurant that was not listed on shop small map/list - a welcome surprise!

  • I just used the map and the card in participating locations, the Amex £5 credits appeared automatically a few working days after the main transactions cleared onto the statement, so all in all it was relatively pain free.

I wonder what would have happened if I had used the card at a merchant that wasn't listed on the map (say a local shop that had three different locations, but only two were listed).

Interesting that sausage_time used it at a place that wasn't listed, but received the credit. Do all merchants have to actively opt in to listing?

I needed to contact Amex to prove to them (with a screenshot and a link) that the retailer I had bought at was listed on the Shop Small website. They have now credited my £5.

So it seems, like sausage_time noted, that there's a bit of a disconnect between the Shop Small website and the actual retailers in Amex's back office systems.

If you miss out on any credits make sure you let Amex know.

Or if you get any extras then just keep shtum! ;)
