Have been caught out with cheap paint in the past, so am well aware of the false economy of it.
Was just hoping that someone would point me towards somewhere selling Dulux cheaper than elsewhere - or suggest Brand X as a cheaper (but equal quality) option.0 -

Trade paint needs 1, maybe two coats whereas cheap paint needs 2 or 3.
Therefore the cheaper paint is only worth it if you consider your time worthless.Pensions actuary, Runner, Dog parent, Homeowner0 -

That’ll do for ceilings and maybe walls too.
For colour walls I go with Dulux DIY range from Homebase or B&Q. Plenty good enough, £22.00 - £26.00 for 2.5L.

All the stores seem to agree that £24 is the right price for 10 litres of Dulux white emulsion, so I may as well use B&Q as they are close.danrv said:

Based on everyone's comments though, I suspect I'll go for 50% more cost in the name of better coverage and try Leyland's trade - https://www.diy.com/departments/leyland-trade-brilliant-white-matt-emulsion-paint-10l/330495_BQ.prd0 -
Not an emulsion story, but must give a shout out for Dulux weathershield gloss white paint.I've usually used a cheaper gloss but this is BRILLIANT! More expensive,I know but well worth paying for quality.Goes on great and lasts forever. Just giving my opinion.0

I do find the trade vinyl matt from Dulux very good. 7.5l tubs often on offer - try Paintwell.co.uk for example. Brewers also have 20% off first two orders.3

Agreed, Paintwell, Brewers, Johnstone and Dulux Paint centres always a good idea to have look around to see what they have on offer. They tend to have much better choice of products, not just paints but tools and accessories too and can actually be cheaper than going to the main retail outlets.ChilliBob said:I do find the trade vinyl matt from Dulux very good. 7.5l tubs often on offer - try Paintwell.co.uk for example. FWIW, I usually use Johnsons, or Wilko own brand (not their 'smart price' stuff though) and had excellent results from both0
