My daughter borrowed my car and went with a few friends to a bonfire display in Leicester. There were 3 car loads. She parked alongside lots of other visitors as did her friends and tells me she checked for any restrictions as did others. This was 8pm and very dark. She says there were cars parked all over the place, so she and many others were doing the same.
The letter has arrived to me to say, the car was parked in an area of permit holders only.
The letter says I am legally required to pay as I am the owner.
One of her friends has also had a letter, the third hasnt.
I will use the template to appeal.
If one person challenges and wins, does it have any bearing on others or are we expected to dispute as an individual?

One of her friends has also had a letter, the third hasnt. The third has possibly omitted to update their logbook and it's been sent to their old address. Tell them!
You have to appeal individually. Obviously the keeper appeals not the driver but you know all that from reading NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The letter says I am legally required to pay as I am the owner.Unless this a penalty charge notice from the council, it won't say that. Which private parking firm has been having a bonfire night bonanza here? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Was this the council or from a private parking operator ?
You can name either on here
The clue is that it was dark with no visible signage. Suggest you go and take pictures in day time and when it's dark
You should alert the local press to investigate as no doubt many people have the same problem

And it doesn't say you are 'legally obliged to pay as the owner'.JIL said:Thanks to all who replied and for giving me some additional ideas, it was from cpm, and was at bradgate, Leicester.

I am all for writing an appeal using the template, my daughter says she will pay it. Her friends will chip in so £15 each.Umkomaas said:

I suppose what I dont want to happen is I do the appeal, I lose and then it costs £100, I will then feel obliged to pay the additional £40.
But I perhaps think that's what the people who send out these notices rely upon.

UKCPM always have been full of rubbish. Being part of the IPC simply means they are members of the great Gladstones solicitors/ IPC/IAS mega scam
Just displaying the IPC logo, tells everyone they are part of the mega scam.
So they think the signs are suitable ? WHAT ABOUT AT NIGHT, are they illuminated, can the public read them, could a judge read them ???
And the fools, from £60 to £120.. where do these idiots get that from
