Nerf said:I signed up to this offer, switched from years with GiffGaff. The sim activated ok, but as soon as i tried to make a call i was told i needed to 'top up' my balance. A bit confusing as i signed up for 5gb data/unltd minutes and texts for 5p and then £4.95 a month. Had to register on the lyca website but couldnt find any other options other than signing up to another bundle, so i opened the chat window to ask why my already purchased deal wasnt activayed. i started the chat at about 5.30ish. finally got to 'chat' with someone but after a few minutes the chat was suddenly disconnected - at exactly 6pm... turns out the companys customer service team finishes work at 6. so the person that was dealing with my query seemed to have gone home.....Ive just ordered another giffgaff sim... lesson learned.
"To Top-up / Activate your Plan, please insert the SIM into your phone and dial*116*PIN NUMBER#."
It's easy to miss this. I did but they told me what to do on the phone helpline (which is only open during office hours).0 -
I really want to cancel this and have left 4 messages for Lyca with no reply to any. Helpline keeps cutting me off whdn I press 9 for customer services. Have not used SIM so maybe no problem but does anyone have any advice as to how I get out if all this, I keep getting emails advising me to activate SIM despite all my messages. Help!0

I've had the same issues with Lyca. Truly dreadful customer service. I made the mistake of thinking that an MSE deal might be involving a company with a professional approach, but my experience has been very poor indeed.0

I've now looked more closely at the Trustpilot reviews for this company - quite an eye-opener!0

In spite of that, and I suspect, Lyca querying the review, Trustpilot removed it. I appealed and provided Trustpilot a picture and proof of my order. It was still rejected as being not genuine.0

I just put my sim in I ordered last month.
Using it mostly for data (dual sim phone) so just going to keep the new number
Very painless apart from having to enter APN settings.
All working will just have to see how it goes.

*** Warning *** *** Avoid Lyca ***
MSE should not list Lyca as a sim card provider. I paid the reduced monthly rate and ordered a monthly plan sim via MSE blagged. The sim card arrived but I could not activate it. Lyca insists it is a PAYG sim. My emails are ignored. My calls to customer services are disconnected.
I assumed there was a problem between MSE and Lyca. As I only wanted a cheap sim for a backup, I tried again via Uswitch. I ordered another monthly plan. The sim card arrived, and again, I cannot activate it. Lyca insist this is also a PAYG sim too. I am advised I can select another plan but the cheap plans listed on MSE and Uswitch were not offered.
For me, Lyca UK is a time waster. They have two small sums of my money and I have two sim cards but I do not have a functioning backup phone. Lyca is taking money under false pretences.

I have had nothing but trouble with Lyca since the signup. The PIN provided didn't work so I have had multiple conversations to try and resolve it. Was told would be resolved in 48 hours over a week ago. Then customer services were rude and said that I would just have to wait. Find today that my calls are blocked. On again to customer services who say it was blocked due to dodgy information when topping up. I've not topped up! The PAC via text message doesn't work and when asked for PAC in person, was told that they couldn't issue one and I would have to email customer services.
More than a little annoyed. Limited mobile coverage where I live so can't look at other providers just the O2 network.
Unsurprisingly have now ordered Giffgaff sim and will port the number over if / when Lyca sorts themselves out.
I somehow don't think there will be good points for customer services in MSE soon....0
