yeah i was going to speek to virgin lat night as well but couldnt remember the number(the closed the phone line anyway) but went into my modem 192.168.100.1 and looked at the logs, it showed a maintenance. its a handy address to know as it proved that A your pc is ok and B lets you see if there is an issue with the lease.

now if only someone would explain to their tech support about it grr.

How do you work out if there is maintainance being carried out? what is / and do you use this 192.168.100.1 number?

I was wondering about this too so typed in the ip address into my browser and it came up with the the cable modem info page. From this you can log in using the default username and password 'root'. This will lead you to a page which contains even more information inclding a link to an 'events' page. It is this page which shows you stuff about what virginmedia are up to. I don't have a clue about what to make of those entries there though.

I havent been able to send or recieve emails for 2 days with this carp service,it keeps coming up saying Error -could not append message to sent items.I phoned them on the 150 number and they said i needed to phone the premium rate number to which i refused stating i am paying a monthly fee to them which should include me having access to my Virgin Media emails, she then said if it was their fault they would reimburse me right away for the cost of the phone call, then i sw a flying pig going past my window.Needless to say i didnt phone but had emailed them yesterday and guess what no reply. So now im stuck between a rock and a hard place.Anyone offer any suggestions?

So it's not just me who's getting ignored on their premium number..why give out a number that just rings, no message, queue nothing it just rings-disgusting. At least we all know it's them now and not our computers.

    As espresso said.

But in my case I had to unplug the ethernet cable from the modem then plug it back in.

yeah one of the advantages of beeing with ntl back when nobody had a clue was you got to know their system pretty well. apart from the renew lease there is nothing you can change but the signal to noise ratios are out of the range they normaly operate (need to google it as i aint that sad) then they need to send someone out to rewire your local cabinate.

the really big thing is if you can get to the 192.168.100.1 page but not the internet then their is a problem with the network and helpdesk muppets need to either change the account settings or arrange a cabinate rewire.

funny how i know more about fault finding than virginmedia, but then what do you expect when their tech support were on minimum wage before they outsourced to incoherant indians who know even less.
