Eye Test Refusal

I don't see anything professionally improper about it. If there's some sort of personal conflict, potentially it might be improper not to refuse to a see a patient.Undervalued said:
However, if the OP genuinely feels the optician has acted improperly in a professional capacity then they should certainly at least discuss the matter with regulator.Aylesbury_Duck said:I agree, just book elsewhere. If you're not prepared to do so it suggests you're looking for trouble.
I certainly wouldn't want to have my eyes/teeth/hearing/blood or anything personal tested by someone with whom there's a difficult family situation unfolding.
Like the site you linked to says, fitness to practise is about things like:- Poor professional performance, such as failing to notice signs of eye disease
- Physical or mental health problems affecting their work
- Inappropriate behaviour, such as violence or sexual assault
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at work
- Fraud or dishonesty
- A criminal conviction or caution.

Clearly there’s more to this than you put in the initial post. Just walk away and go somewhere else. Some things really aren’t worth getting into and this is one of them.
It’s just going to escalate and get even more silly as the two of you bounce off each other, so unless your aim is to completely escalate an already difficult situation find another optician. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

What has divorce & cancelled eye test have to do with each other?mcdolf81 said:Good MorningCan an optician act as this one did????
I received messages from Specsavers advising me that my eye test was due. At the time I was in Asia but on my return on 08/10/2022, I booked an appointment on 09/10/2022.The appointment for an eye test was made for 09.40 on the 11/10/2022.At 09.20 on the morning of the test , 20 minutes before I was due in store I received a text message from phone number +44 ********** which reads as follows " I understand you have an appointment booked this morning. You`re not welcome in the store. I`ve asked that you been turned away and cwmbran security have been informed. If you have a problem with your eyes, please go to a different opticians. *****That is quoted word for word from the text message which i have kept.My crime to warrant this expulsion. His mother in law has started divorce proceedings against me.I feel that the actions taken are excessive and totally unprofessional when I have done absolutely nothing wrong and have always purchased my glasses from Specsavers. I have never caused a problem. After this I then received further messages saying sorry you couldn't make the appointment please rebook
i have written to Specsavers but expect to get a message saying branches are Franchised so each can decide. Can I make a complaint to a Governing body and is there one?
 Peter

The OP is in the process of divorcing a family member of someone who works in the opticians, as a result of that they no longer want the OP's custom. The OP wants to try to force them to accept his business, or cause them trouble by complaining to their professional body.born_again said:

Specsavers have a multitude of branches - and if you've always used them - you could go to your next nearest one in order to avoid the potential conflict. I would certainly NOT want to go to any healthcare provider where I was in conflict with someone - I'd be doing all I could to go somewhere else.2

Knowingly booking an appointment with the son in law of someone that is divorcing you is probably indicative of why the OPs wife is divorcing him.Actions the OP wants to take are unnecessarily vindictive and says a lot more about the OP than the optician.9
