NYKmedia - hopefully you will get a decent amount of time in your house, the market in my part of Scotland is really slowing down. Does the ll have to give you notice?

Our tenancy agreement states 2 months notice, so it's better than nothing. However, I'm not going to worry about it until it happens, I'll keep my ears open for anything suitable coming available this summer and I'll concentrate on generating extra income and increasing savings so I'm well prepared. And there's always the chance of a Premium Bonds win. :D

The next stage of my own challenge begins as soon as my end of year accounts are completed. I'm still psyching up for that one, so won't say any more than the fact that 'Billy Can' will be featuring quite strongly from mid April.

    Congrats to Janey's DS :j
I've been doing quite well lately - being at home means that I don't have to spend so much on food, and i've been working so I'm earning a bit of money as well! :) I've had to buy a new laptop - its being made up apparently, so when that goes out of my account, i'll update my total.. it'll be a bit chunk - cost me £400+ to buy :( oh well.

  • hya all amother NSD to report ,( but only cos DS bought me a bottle of wine for tonight)

made a lovely pot of veg soup today and soda bread to go with it, and did a cleaning whirl, need to get the back garden tidied but kinda difficult cos the old kitchen is sitting on the back patio ......am finding it really difficult to book a van for the 25 quid for four hours on a weekend, so the kitchen might have to stay till I get a few days off in April cos I aint paying a fortune for the van hire.....Rang the council to see if they would pick up but when I told the girl what needed lifted, she was like.........welll....to let you understand our pricing policy if you wanted....say a TV picked up it would cost 23 quid and then it goes on some sort of sliding scale........would have to pay the council nearly a hundred to uplift the kitchen.....GRRRR and the galling thing is that if I lived in the next district which still comes under the same region I would get 2 free uplifts a year

Janey so glad you're DS passed his test, though its something else to worry about when they are out in the car

Nyk I haven't included my TV licence fee in the challenge cos as far as I'm concerned its a tax that's imposed on me and one that I really really grudge....

Janey...congrats to you DS2 on passing his test:T My DS2 passed hers, 3rd attempt, last week, and I have had to talk her out of buying a brand new car! Kids today....don't you just love them!:o They want everything now!

How are you doing with your non-smoking Mumzy luv?

Bails...I want a horse too, but that will have to wait for a few years yet!;)
Plus I can't deal with the wrath of NYK! :rotfl:

CA....hows things with you. I love hearing about your 'non-spending money' tips!:D

Okay...now that I have done all the 'avoiding' the spends...I will tot up my monthly budget and be back in two shakes of NYK's finger:o and confess about my over indulgence...well it is Sunday!

Hi, miny_huny_money, could you offer it on Freecycle? If it's not in good enough condition to put back in a kitchen someone might take it as fuel for a woodstove - the carcasses burn well and you can also burn the rest, though strictly speaking you shouldn't because it's bad for your chimney. Some of us, however, have done it. If nobody takes it, well, you haven't lost money by trying.

I am still on Cloud Nine about DS passing his test and thank you to everyone who have passed on their congrats :T
Luckily, DS is in his 30s now and is a pretty steady person all round so only really have to worry about the other drivers on the road.

Sorry to hear about your LL traumas Nyk. We have rented for 10 yrs (the same house) and we know the only way we will have to leave is if the LL dies.
Our rental agreement is pretty much word of mouth but the owners are wonderful. If we did have to move, I feel privileged to have spent a chunk of my life living in such a lovely place....even if it is still a scene of devastation while we wait for the insurance companies to start re-building the singed bits :D

I am very pleased that I am being offered a lot of extra work in my new job. I'm not flattering myself that I am particularly good at it, but I am probably the one who answers the phone when she is looking for volunteers to cover sickness etc. My contract is for 20 hrs but next week I am working 27 :j
I love it so far especially as the summer is on its way. Beats sitting in front of a computer a lot of the time in a room with no windows :D I am out in the sunshine ( and the rain, snow, hail and frost) and being paid to look after elderly ladies who have all been very kind to a newbie.

And of course, I can always refuse work if the weather is nice ;) But my MSE mentality won't let me at the moment plus it means I can put more into savings :j

My money boxes are feeling quite heavy now. Had a peek inside the "Household" savings and was amazed that there are so many notes in there.
If I had done what I used to do, this money would have just been absorbed into general spending but since joining this Challenge, I am very careful about putting extra money away. One example of this is when I get a Mr M's £5 voucher from petrol spends, I put £5 into the savings box and use the voucher to spend on food I would have bought anyway.

Made a huge rice pud in the slow cooker last night which will feed me forever. And DH is making soup with sad vegs from cupboard and fridge plus a chicken carcase my Mum was going to bin
Does this qualify as bin diving

Have updated my sig for March and its not as bad as I had feared. I have a different kind of compulsion to Nyk and her tidy financial frugalness.
When I have put numbers down (tidy or not) I nearly have apoplexy about having to alter them. My pet hate is liquid paper/Tippex.
So the numbers on my sig are now sacrosanct and I will spend no more until April 1.:rotfl:

Hope Nyk isn't looking as tomorrow we are getting another P O N Y  ,
Actually it is for DD and I have just upfronted the cash until August when she gets some cash of her own that she is waiting for. So just a temporary loan from me:o . He will be a frugal pony though as she is loaning him out for three days a week and the loan fees will pay for his stabling and part of his bedding/food so DD will only have to find about £10 a week to finance him:D
i am really proud of her as she has worked all this out by herself and found the best value livery for her project, and even included insurance etc.

Sorry Nyk, but it isn't impacting on my budget... yet!!!

Well, it apears that my D/debits for this month are:

    Mob......£38.73
    P/Int.....£40.24
    C/ins.....£27.88

I appear to have withdrawn £10.00 on two seperate occasions that I'd forgotten about, but now I remember. I was feeling fed up and bought wine and chippy 'stuff'. What a waste!:o I've kept within my food budget which isn't a problem, and I don't buy clothes, toiletries...I have enough to last me 'til Christmas! So why do I feel as though I have let myself down for spending £20 on c*&p?!

Any hooo...I'll try harder this month.:D

April is the month when I will have tons to pay for, what with, water rates and council tax coming out of the bank etc. I know we are not taking this into account, but it is still draining my resources, and will make a huge dent in my outgoings, and I will have to tighten my belt further or make more money.

I need to think of the possitive now so....I was given a huge box of Milk Tray last night by one of my 'ladies' that I see at work, for Easter! Bless her! Not sure if I should keep them for a pressie, or scoff the lot?! :rotfl: Decissions, decissions!
