Unfortunately, my current lease now says no pets or livestock :(
 Another reason why I'm SOO grateful to my parents... Don't fret Nyk, the menagerie in your Wish Book will soon be a reality :D Searching 3 for 2 smallholding offers as we speak ;)

Get this, OH came home today and proudly presented me with an unused stamp he'd retrieved from an envelope on the top of a bin at uni! Round of applause please :D

Nyk Mmm fish and chips ... same for tea here as well. Normally have it on Friday, but we had visitors for the weekend and apparently the house would have smelt of chips. ;)

The "keep the mortgage to maximise MIRAS" motto was always nonsense! When MIRAS applied, mortgage rates were enormous so even with MIRAS, the interest cost was ridiculous. My second mortgage had a fixed rate of 11.95% if I recall correctly. Ouch!

Bails I too like travelling but haven't got very exotic tastes (or expensive ones, anyway). We went to Tunisia this January which is the only time we've been properly outside Europe (Turkey was the furthest away prior to that) and it was very cheap because it was out of season.

Wow!!! I think your OH gets the ultra-frugal special homemade prize for frugalness! I'm very impressed.

BTW You're going to have to make that 4 for 2 on the smallholding ;) DH and I have a long-term plan on buying one! Maybe we should just go for a MSE commune? LoL. It'd be the most frugal place on earth.

    Hi everyone:D

Just updated my figures for the month and it's looking pretty good this week!

Have had a run of good luck in the last few days which has led to........

£45 credit for overpayment from BT
£70 from quidco which I had given up on (didn't track)
    £30 amazon sales
Couple of items on their way (comp prizes) which can be sold on ebay
Another comp prize which will be geat for Dad's birthday

Oh and notification of new DD amount for gas/elec after switching company's - it will go down from £91 at present to only £57 per month:T

I expect something will come along soon to put a spanner in the works but I am certainly going to enjoy it while it lasts!! I think that puts me roughly back on track to make budget by the end of the year for now at least.......

the-cat I'm sorry if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs, but beware the fact that energy suppliers often under-quote on the initial DD amount so that people think they are getting a huge saving, for you to then find at the next real meter reading that you are way behind in your payments and the DD is doubled to catch up.

It's fine if you don't spend the savings or treat them as actual cost savings.

Energy suppliers don't differ that greatly in price so a genuine reduction from £91 to £57 will only arise for the reason I've stated or because the £91 was itself partially made up of a significant catch-up element.

    Hi Marky

Yes I agree, overall I am expecting my bills to come it at a monthly spend of somewhere in between these 2 figures, but TBH 'rather in my pocket in the meantime!:D espec as we are now coming up to the warm/cheap time of year. Thanks for the thought though!
