:j:j:j:j:jveggie roadkill!!!!:j:j:j:j:j
well, a lovely bag of lovely farmers market looking loose fruit and veg - it was in a carrier bag with snapped handles, and some idiot must have just left it. so i whipped out my bag-for-life and snaffled it. i got -
4 starfruit
1 large sweet potato
5 limes
2 oranges
9 tomatoes on the vine
17 lovely huge red chillies (gonna plant the seeds too)
and 2 things that i dont know what they are.....they are the size of a bulb of garlic and have a stumpy stem, with a reddish root vegetable skin (like a sweet potato or a turnip)??? anyone know??
does anyone else remeber the borrowers? it reminded me of pods advice that you ahould always carry a spare borrowing bag so that you dont miss out on any great finds!
oh and i asked my bf to marry me - he said yes to avoid the £100 and gloves, but then i told him i would need an engagement ring, and that the traditional value is 3 months of his salary.... but he said he would just call off the wedding the next day and owe nothing! curses.... he did say he might buy me gloves to humour me though:D
Just wash and trim don't peel and then roast as you would parsnips. Yum!!
HTHMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Gloves and £100? Am I missing something? Are we getting a frugal wedding? Ooh... that could be 2 if Bails takes the plunge:T :T :T

Nyk I think that overall it was a good Mother's Day weekend, despite my incompetence in the kitchen. My daughter is 27 months old and her picture is on my avatar temporarily.
Marru My daughter is always headbutting me or my wife in the face. She doesn't seem to think before she leaps too often yet! She's always bumping her own head, actually, which isn't too good.0 -

I'm in the southwest corner, about 40 miles from Stranraer, but have also lived in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Aberdeenshire. (Also lived in Suffolk - where I witnessed the worst problems with snow ever! :rotfl: ). Depending on frugality (and birthday money), I try to make it to Leuchars in September
MUMZY - You NEED to phone them, they'll just ask for your details but please read all the details in case you have to stay a member for a minimum term. I'd strongly advise against joining up to anything just for the points if you don't like cancelling. If you get caught in a contract it could cost you dearly. Always read the small print.

Hiya mumzy,
I can't remember what they said when I rang to cancel, but they certainly didn't give the hard sell or anything - it was very straightforward. I wouldn't worry too much about ringing them, they'll be very helpful
About to update my signature with the new weekly total... it'll go down a lot this week cos I've paid for a ball ticket (ouch!), mobile bill and train travel, plus a bit of socialising, but those are the last major expenses for a while! Fingers crossed should hit the target overall :cool:Live on £4000 a Year Challenge member

mumzyof2 Don't get me started on bus fares!
It used to cost us £3.50 return from our house to the nearest big town. Then the bus company decided return fares were a bad idea, so it now costs £2.50 each way or £5.00 in total - that's an increase of nearly 50%.
At other places on the route it's actually cheaper to get an all day all buses ticket, rather than two singles. That surely can't make sense.0
