well done on your new job Keren, that's great!
Please could someone post a flapjack recipe? I have a yen to make them but no idea how. think it eas the choccie buttons that inspired me!:rotfl:"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
Congrats keren on the new job. See how luck is starting to single you out? After all, being a ladeeee, Lady Luck appreciates frugalism.
I am pleased to report a NSD :j
Not sure if we are staying at home tomorrow where I will be safe from the shops or DH wants to venture out.
Its really really cold here tonight. I have the log burner on, one bar on the calor gas fire, a throw on my knee and the laptop keeping my legs warm. Not to mention a vest, 2 long sleeved t-shirts, a jumper, a gilet, pair of jeans, tights and my knee length furry slippers.
I am so elegantIts a good thing DH loves me for whats inside....if he can find it.
Thinking of going to hang over the Rayburn to make home-made sausages (recipe on the Old Style Board) as DH loves sausages and he is at work until 9pm. But it means leaving the cosy warmth and going into the Arctic that is the hall and through the Antartic which is the dining room.
Soon I will have to climb Mt Everest to put the electric blankets on.

Janey51 - you are wonderful! and to be honest it's so nice to know that I am not alone in Antarctica. We too work on an open fire for heating, and the prospect of venturing up the wooden hills is a fearful one indeedIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0

Hello everyone:hello:
I now have the internet at home again so I can post messages :T Not that I have much to say though  . I have been trying to keep up with your posts (naughtyly at work and unnaughtyly in my lunchtimes) but [strike]you do go on so[/strike] I mean you have such inspiring tales to tell. I can't remember who it was that had chickens poking their heads out of a wendyhouse but that was  as was helping knickerless nuns :rotfl: .
Anyway I have been keeping up with the challenge. And I haven't spent £4000 yet this year, or even the £3923 that I'm allowing myself coz I started a week late. :A What I have spent is £262.43 on groceries, bills, treats etc, and £576.66 on making my new flat into a home. The "home-making" moves in and out of my £4000 as I keep changing my mind whether I'm counting it or not. Curse these willpower challenges, if only somone would pay for me to have a roof over my head and give me £4000 for the year!
Anything I earn and don't spend is either going into savings or paying off some mortgage early. Haven't decided which yet - will probably wait till I have some spare money first!

well, just read through to catch up and was falling about laughing...it's not just addictive, it's hilarious. I've just made £25 today sorting some accounts and letters out, so really pleased. And another NSD. I'll now have to workout how many of these I have each month and calculate the %, as well as watching the electric metre, and the money...what with watching this I really don't have time to spend anything anyway.Wombling £457.410

CharliesAngel I admire your ingenuity with that menu but all those eggs with bananas and beans PLUS white bread won't it (ahem) upset your 'regularity' ? :rotfl:Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0
