I found it, I just had to Google it!DdraigGoch means red dragon, like the one on the Welsh flag  Congratulations on the wedding, I sure hope your DH knows what he's let himself in for by marrying a frugaler :rotfl:
Re the pressies, I don't think my family feel lucky, I think it's more a case of their thinking they have a slightly [strike]loopy[/strike] eccentric relative. Mind you, I'm sure it's inherited! After the saga of the papier mache cow at Christmas, anything is possible in my family :rotfl:
Another lovely day here today again. I need to go out for work but am going to avoid anywhere I can spend money - going for a record breaking 3 NSD days in a row. Hmm... did I mention that my cooker blew up?
On the 'dumper diving' or 'bin raiding' front, I have a Co-op dividend card and a Tesco Clubcard and I think it's Tesco that offer 'green points' - well, it's environmentally friendly, isn't it? Unless, like the videos on You Tube, you are bundling it all into a luxury gas guzzler that looks like a Merc!!
On the offers front, I applied for brochures (to get cashback) from the Writers Bureau. Has anyone done any of their courses and do they really work?
Elantan - your spending doesn't look too bad to me.:D Mine's horrendous the first month :eek:I reserve the right not to spend.

Hi all, I wrote out my update but lost it as the site was undergoing emergency repairs! Anyhoo, basically I am going to make sure I update often as it was a mare trying to catch up! We're 99p down on our weekly total this week but to be expected with DDs coming out. £119.48 spent (groceries and bills) and £133.96 saved; 3 NSDs so 21/42 in total so far, better than I thought!:T
Two things - I'm thinking of making my spends a nice round number at the end of each week and putting the oddses into my savings - every little makes a difference! Also, I now seem to be spiralling into EWAD (Excess Waste Anxiety Disorder) and am having panic attacks every time I see another potential item for the bin. Without wishing to offend any sensitive souls, I just caught myself wondering how I could reuse my plastic tampon applicator - any ideas?? (and yes, I am only half joking!):eek:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Ha ha, it would make more sense in light of the conversation Nyk and I have been having about waste - not completely gross if they were disinfected etc... The real answer is not to use them in the first place, but I can't cope with that! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Sorry to butt in - I normally just lurk on this thread. I also wanted, like you, to cut down waste in ahem, this area, so I invested in a Mooncup (try google or ebay!) - perhaps a bit offputting at first, but definitely eyeopening in how much waste it reduces!
PM me if that doesn't make any sense!Overpay!0 -
...3 NSDs so 21/42 in total so far, better than I thought!:T WOW! CONGRATULATIONS!! You have already reached the 50:50 spend:no spend variant... I am so jealous!!!
Two things - I'm thinking of making my spends a nice round number at the end of each week and putting the oddses into my savings - every little makes a difference! Agreed - I round all my grocery expenses into Phil, my pig (see avatar) Also, I now seem to be spiralling into EWAD (Excess Waste Anxiety Disorder) and am having panic attacks every time I see another potential item for the bin....
EWAD! I LOVE IT!! I am so, so glad that I now have a name for yet another of my disorders! :j Now that I know someone else has it, I suspect that it must be yet another side effect of this challenge. That makes me feel loads better. My EWAD episodes sometimes get me into trouble as some people don't appreciate that a 'normal' person can experience such anxiety. Thank you Bails, for relieving me of this secret misery. :T  :TI reserve the right not to spend.

Just sorted out my weekly cash etc so another £44.46 onto my total. Just realised that I'm adding certain things on here and also into my grocery total which will also get added in at end of month so will actually be doubling these up.
So the above figure is wrong and it is £28.70 will adjust my total accordingly. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

I've been offered a job!! 18.5 hours a week at my local adult education centre. Perfect hours, perfect location (less than a mile away) and although not perfect money, some guaranteed income that I can top up with AQA. I was made redundant last May and I've not felt up to facing the world since as I had a really rough ride in the last 9 months or so so I'm happy to be taking a step back out into the real world.
I've celebrated by making some flapjacks - with chocolate drops on the top as it is a special occasion."Stay Wonky":D
