What do frugalites do for special occasions?

    Make flapjacks with chocolate drops.

What do frugalites do for really special occasions?

    Eat the flapjacks, lol!

    Congratulations Keren.

Well yesterday I told you that I'd sent some money down for my friend (£100). In the most bizarre coincidence, I received a letter afterwards saying that I had won a prize worth £100 and a gourmet hamper! That was from a comp on the competitions board in February.

    Good stuff, eh?

:beer:Congratulations, Keren! I'm glad you are heading in the direction of happiness and wish you well in your new job. Hope that doesn't mean you're going to leave us to become all materialistic and splash out on unnecessaries?? Like new undies or processed frozen complete meals?

It's great you're getting 18.5 hours and, as you are already living frugally, you'll be 'loaded'! :D :T :T :T

Oooh, Whitewing, SPOOKY or what? It's like 'what goes around comes around', or 'what ye sow, so shall ye reap' or it may get even better and, like the witchy people believe, that rule of three where what you give is returned threefold? Whichever way it pans out, you know you are a good and caring friend, the best kind anyone could ever need.

  • oh, blimey, no nyk - no new life of frozen meals or Janet Reger knickers for me!!! I'll still have to work hard on AQA to top the salary up - but I might be able to give myself Sundays off! (what will I do with the time?!)

oh my bf works on AQA, that reminds me, he owes me 30p cos he let me 'play' at it once....

i cannot stop thinking about a cake, might have to nip out and get one.... not very frugal i know, but at least my work is in the glorious position of being directly opposite the road from an aldis, which backs onto a lidls (how frug-tastic is that?) so the damage shouldnt be too bad....

Fab news about the job Keren, really pleased for you! Returning to work is a real challenge so well done for getting back out there.
Whitewing, truly deserved; how funny life is.
Nyk, I am so glad there is a fellow sufferer out there; I hated the idea that all the drugs trials would have to be done only on me :D
Poorbutrich (love your name BTW) - I have heard of Mooncup so your post does make sense :D Thanks for the reminder though, will check them out.
I'm feeling a little blue here today - I know it's because my energy levels are v low after yesterday (too much 'scrabble' as it's known on the WL thread :o). I needed to go into town to hunt for a few things for a pressie for OH but I'm putting it off as I run the risk of splurging...Won't be able to go over the weekend as I can't stand shopping at the best of times and hate the crowds but feel bad for not getting it sorted to surprise him with. Maybe I could stick Billy Can in my pocket to help me? (might get some odd looks :rotfl:)

Billy Can represents your level of will power.

    Will / William / Bill / Bills / Billy

It's a tin can, hence the name Billy Can. You can store bills, notes, extra cash, spare change and then at the end of a week/month/year, whatever, you should have paid all the bills, saved extra and then it's all down to will power how you choose to dispose of the extra cash left in the can... have you the will power to save it? Burn it? Donate it? Spend it? It's just a daft little money game. I know if I get to the end of the month and have saved a little money for a specific item (like a DVD or a night out or a new book etc) when it comes the time to actually spend the cash on what it was saved for... I can't do it, but perhaps Billy Can :D
