Skintwellie, losing 24 lbs already is seriously impressive - have you given up eating? V frugal of you :D
Keren, I admire your determination for the cause. I try hard with the heating but won't let myself get really cold.
More decorating here today - not much by me :(, mostly making tea and sarnies. Not sure how I am going to lose any inches at this rate... Not quite sure why we measured our necks, ankles and wrists, can I really lose anything from these places? Anyway, my personal hope for the challenge is that I will have established a regular exercise programme by the end of the month. I have planned out what I'd like to do each week, we'll just have to see how compliant my health is!
Not many NSDs this week, tut tut, and may have to spend on DIY stuff today but we'll see. Have a fab Sunday everyone - anyone win the lottery last night?:D

  • My total for this month is £886.27!!!! However when I examine the totals Jan is always an expensive month for me and as Nyk says it all averages out!!!!!! I feel good about it as there are further areas to trim off and as I posted earlier I paid £915 off small debts so it is ok and working well! Feb should be much better as I have already shaved £14 off my grocery total for the week.

  • My man is going to buy me a breadmaker from L***l on Monday as they have them on offer next week for £25.00, so will be able to try out all of the lovely bread recipes posted on here.

    Hi Skintwellie,
do you happen to know what make the L**l breadmakers are? A*g*s have got one by 'Cookworks' (never heard of them, but it's got very good customer reviews). I was wondering about getting that.

I too will have to check back to realise what I have spent my dosh on!
It's my own fault for not writing it down in my, 'make-shift' spending diary;)

I wish I could spend more time on here as it really helps and inspires me, but my DS always hauls me off because he has to 'chat to his mates on MSN'. What about my frugal friends?!

It must be the season to decorate Bails. I have five days off work:j and am definately going to slap some paint and paper all around my house! It wont cost me a penny as I have had the stuff for over a year now...erhmm:o I am determined that this will definately be a frug-dec-fest!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Googling, it seems the Lidl breadmaker may be a Bifinett, sounds like it is ok for the money. I've got a cheap Prima one, cost me £21 a couple of years ago. Definitely one to get on a budget if you see them around still.

Bails - it is definitely possible to lose weight from the neck and ankle area. I had some zip up ankle boots years ago which only just did up, but when I lose some weight they were much better!

What I wouldn't do to have a lovely, long pair of knee high boots though!!

Feeling very frgualicious. Made chicken risotto for lunch with some chicken scraps leftover from dinner a couple of nights ago along with literally a handful of arborio rice that has been skulking around the cupboard for months. It made a decent size amount and I guess I should have halved it for today and tomorrow's lunch, but I was feeling hungry and cold! In a weird way it was nice to see the little bit of rice used up!

Okay, this week's update (am I tempting fate by not waiting til the end of the day?) - £56.79 spent: £32.65 groceries, £12.49 presents, £11.65 TV licence. My weekly total is up another 58p to £74.14 so I'm clawing back some of January's excess :T I've pretty much done this month's menu plan so this week's total will be heftier with the supermarket shop  and all the DDs  I too am getting really fed up when I have to spend money, and am now totally convinced that going into town with OH is DISASTROUS!! Bless him :D The other day he found 10p on the floor and handed it straight to me - he's learning but still hasn't thought to keep it for himself; I don't think I'll point that out just yet (he might find a pound next time ;)).

On the savings front, I've managed to save £116 myself and £51.20 from the joint budget, so well pleased with that! OOH, I've just realised that takes me over the £1000 mark saved so far this year; that's a fifth of my aim for this year already! Thankyou guys for all your help with this!:j:T

Lollopybear, nice to see another English teacher - I too have to read Much Ado by next week (we always taught The Play with No Name) :o Now if I can just find my Complete Works of Shakespeare... And apparently there are some fantastic resources on the grid, especially from a school in Hertfordshire I think. I'll ask at school this week, might save you some prep time.
