  • £21.77 today. Feel a bit rough, I think I've got a cold. Sniffing and the right hand side of my face really hurts :( I've had a cold remedy sachet, luckily I stocked up at the beginning of January so if I do get any worse (my eyes feel really tired :( ) I've got plenty without having to spend any money.

Need to start work though, AQA waits for neither man nor beast in its quest to answer the questions of the world!

  • Hi Mumzyof2, glad you're getting everything sorted. Keren, hope you're soon feeling better.

Just been to get some paper and paint to decorate my kitch
en, and the (already cheap) paint in Wilkinsons was 1/2 marked price! :D

One good thing about the snow, it's covered the junk in my back garden (from ripping out old kitchen) so now it looks quite tidy!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I fell foul of the new law regarding siggies after changing the totals and for some reason would only accept 2 lines. Might try again later when I have an hour or two to spare!!

Jan was OK spending wise, quite happy with the totals, its typical, Feb started off badly with when my kettle failed. Had to buy a new one..... so instead of buying a cheap plastic jug at 17.99 I bought a nice metal one at 24.99. The later does have a 2 year guarantee that means it will last longer than my old one by default!!

Still have a fail amount of food in the freezer so I am expecting my food/groceries/toiletries spend to be lower still this month (its shorter!!), Jan was just under the 100 quid mark.

Just remembered Nyk, didn't you say something to people about treating themselves if they kept with their chosen budget for the month, admittedly I was not one of them:o I just want to know what the possible treats are.

This only works when you know FOR SURE that you have kept within a specific budget, such as affording £150 per month groceries and then only spending £100. You NEED to make sure you really are within that budget as anything else will impact on the entire year. So, if you saved £20 on your grocery shopping then it's up to you whether you:

    a) pay extra towards a bill
    b) save it
    c) treat yourself by spending it

You can always play the £10 game and save the rest for bills/banks etc except play the game anywhere except the supermarket :D

Hi all, just updated my sig (altho it says you can have 5 lines it will only let me have 4??)

The latest rule reminders state that signatures can have a maximum of 300 characters, perhaps you weren't as frugal as you thought with your word or character count :rotfl:

I cheated and copied mine into a word doc so I can use word/character count before updating it. And remember - NO LINKS or the forum police delete you. :o

I'm not a member of the club but I've switched to using cash only and have stayed within my budget for the first time in a loooooooooong time. I draw money each Monday and try to make it last all week. I've got 30p left this week even after spending £20 on a birthday present. If I manage to do this each week, I'll be rich by 2009 (nearly)

Hello all! I see a few of you have been caught out by the forum police for having 'illegal' signatures :o so I don't feel quite so bad now and I haven't re-offended since my first 'caution'. :rotfl: If it helps, you can fit more in if you use fewer colours as they are counting not just the actual characters but the coding characters as well - each change of colour involves extra coding.

Mumzy, I hope everything is going ok for you and that you're managing OK and have fun with the birthday party. :j

Yesterday's initial 500 calorie burn off hasn't had any overnight ill-effects, so I burned a quick 200 after breakfast, will do 200 after dinner and 200 before bedtime. I'm aiming to reach 1000 per day by next weekend and then stick with that, at least, for the month.

After 3 NSDs I had to go and buy bread & milk, so that's the first £3.65 of the month. I've finished the cookie dough that I had stored in the fridge, however, so might need to up the calorific burn-off at the rate we consume fresh-baked cookies with coffee! :D

Snow has all but gone from here and the wind has, at last, dropped. I received some free samples of anti-wrinkle cream in the post and am adding those to the drawet of other health & beauty related goodies. I STILL haven't done my pressie list and I STILL haven't totted up points from all over the place to see what I can expect over the coming year. But it's only February, afterall. Off to try out this free card link now. Thanks for that :)

PS: I want to hear about the pickled cabbage too!

PPS: Have added Justkeepswimming to the frugal fitness club and am still awaiting a few figures. My free measuring tape hasn't arrived yet, either.
