Guys, just have to direct you to this frugaltastic offer I discovered for a free Valentine's card sent to your loved one free of charge! So that's all for free then:T Actually, it's for any type of card - the offer is only valid til 3rd Feb so best do it quick.

Here's the link but for a quick summary: join Photobox through Quidco for 80p cashback; choose and customise a card and then enter LOVETUBE when you get to the checkout. So you get paid 80p for sending someone a card :D

    Back later!

 That card thingy is excellent!

I've just been thinking, and I won't have to spend this money again next month as I'm stocked up for a while:

    Supplements, vitamins and painkillers £8.99
    shampoo£5.94
    shower gel £9.92
    24 condoms £7.98
    Prescription Pre-payment Certificate £98.70

and hopefuly i won't have to spend money in these areas again next month:

    Essential home maintenance £152.97
    Dentist £92

So I *might* be able to get February's "Challenge" spending down to under £900.

    I feel a little bit better. :)

    cheerio hen
  • My sig gives my totals - £990.81 spent so far!! Crikey I wont last long on this challenge at this rate :rotfl: although I have been really good & not spent on "stuff" like coffee's here & there, the odd book etc. so I hate to think where I would have been before this challenge! Although, in my defence  I have paid out for a hotel room for 2 & a crate of wine for a wdding present, for which I'll get some back from a friend. Still worrying where it all goes though...

I've not included the usual (mortgage, CT, water, NI contributions) but I've also not included childcare (can't work otherwise) or life assurance. At the end of the year I'll adjust my petrol expenditure to exclude work mileage for which I will be reimbursed.

Nyk - can you put me in for the feb fitness thingy please? My wobbly total is 274  & I'm hoping to firm up using my bargain gymball from MrT (£1.99 - ages ago) & my tummy trainer I got on freecycle last year which has lived in my son's toybox for the last 5 months. Boy do I need a kick up the a##e please everyone! :wall:

    Thanks, JKS
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    Hi Jacks
Colleagues of mine got into Glastonbury for free last year by working there!!!! They had a fab time (in mud) despite having to be marshalls or some such. Not sure how you do this but it might be worth trawling around on the internet to see if you can find out.

    Hi everyone.
Back in the UK, so can finally join in properly...yah!!

So far I've paid out DD for car insurance and DD for tv license.
I've also paid my mobile phone bill and started stocking up on food.
Thats going to be quite an expense this month cause the cupboards, fridge and freezer were bare...hopefully I'll be able to get it down to a reasonable weekly level sooner rather than later.
I've got to sort out car tax for 2 of our cars tomorrow...but I'll add that when I've got it done.
Its going to be an expensive month this month...!!

Yup, this is a good way to get your free ticket. If you're interested, I have a friend who has organised this for our hockey club, I could see what she knows if you like? We only live about 3 miles from the site (used to get people sleeping in our rockery when I was a kid :D). We too would absolutely love to go - I wouldn't be able to marshal (think it might be a 12-hour shift) so will play catchup if we get tickets. We also have friends who live in the village...;)

    Okay, finally my January spends:
Groceries £215.45 (incl. lots of bulk buys)
    Bills £114.17
Presents £108.30 (incl. Mum's 60th and brother's engagement, lots for present box)
    Home maintenance £5
    TOTAL : £442.92 so £3557.08 for the year/£74.55 a week/£10.65 a day averages.

If it makes you feel any better, we have spent a scary amount outside of the 4k challenge, despite being careful!! Some things are completely non-negotiable like health, which I accept is costing a fortune, and we have had some unlucky breaks (as we all do) but my goodness!! When I look at it though, there are very few ways we can cut back on these at the moment
Oh well, let's see if Month 2 can be any cheaper :D
