YOU CAN GROW YOUR OWN SOAPNUTS???????
Ephemera, I think you just found a new secondary income and a fab new use for that wee caravan... you have planting space, you have a wee caravan.... does it have a half door and space for a pretty painted sign above it? "Get yer soapnuts 'ere" and whilst waiting for customers, we'll find you one of those old hand-turning or treadle sewing machines (saves on the power) so you can sit inside sewing up the little linen bags. :rotfl:
Don't suppose you will be growing mulberry bushes? Silk spinning could be another sideline
Hee hee well my Gran was from proper gypsy stock so going back to my roots I s'pose :rotfl::rotfl:
I could tell yer fortune, dearie, if you like! But I am wondering if maybe I should invest in a couple of these trees as an income stream - my walnut trees and chestnuts are being planted mainly as income generators when they are cropping well in about 5-10 years. But not this year - I have a bliddy great orchard to plant yet :j
Crikey nykmedia... we seem to have created a monster!! :eek:If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I heard and I checked the link but only got as far as the bit about Horse Chestnuts    Does that mean I can wash my hair just from rubbing my conkers in cold water?? WOW! I AM STUNNED! So much for going to watch a film! This is FAR more entertaining!! (and educatiuonal and very, very on topic for all moneysavers attempting to live on a very tight budget). :rotfl:
lmao 'rubbing your conkers'
oh dear.....! :rotfl:If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I'm off now, need to make an early start to get the best bargains in Sue Ryder designerwear on a busy weekend. Will let you all know how the soapnuts work and I've remembered to put what's left of today's chicken (after saving enough for tomorrow's fajitas) into the slow cooker and switch it on so the stock's ready by morning. G'night all
PS: Yep, I remembered to switch on the tumble dryer too, when the cheap rate clicked on :rotfl:
Cor, am I a mean Scot, or what?

It's taken me ages to read through todays posts - pages of them! Up to date now but time I was off to bed.
Not a very good day spending wise. Popped into Asda during my lunch hour for a bag of flour and ended up spending £7.87. Felt like I deserved a treat - for no particular reason - so ended up buying a 'grow your own veg' magazine. Last years attempt at veg growing was a disaster - never saw a slug in the garden till the veg went in, then I seemed to have the entire slug population of the city descend on my garden overnight!Live on £4000 a year #1220 -
