Just checked my spending diary, and so far I have had 5 no spend days, these have all been weekends (including 30th &31st Dec). If I only pay out for travel during the day (DD's fare for school) can I class them as NSD's? Admittedly not had one yet, but all my bills and that are almost paid, and today what was paid out was debts which isn't included in this and dd's travel, apart from that its a NSD at last during the week.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

My mother is sabotaging my frugality. I had just enough petrol left in my car to last until we pick up our more economical diesel on Friday and I got a phone call to say she had run out of knickers
Don't ask.
So I had to drive 12 mile return trip to deliver washed and dried ones and pick up others. See how exciting my life is?
Was quietly fuming when I realised she had cornered the world market on kitchen towels so stole a packet to offset petrol.
If this challenge is making me steal from my Mother, what will I be like 6 months in? :rolleyes:0 -
I Llive in Scotland too but I'm not Scots. Married to one though.0

I used to enjoy meal planning, I'd read the cook books that I had and find things that sounded nice and were cheap to make, or even better stuff I had in!
I've spent £2.30 today, I didn't take any lunch to work (my 4th day!) so got a butty and a bottle of pepsi, was a bit of a bargain, butty was as big as my forearm so very filling! I'm in a really great mood today, feels like the friday feeling so imagine what I'll be like tomrrow!:rotfl: Haven't really told anyone I'm doing this challenge, mostly because I've not really seen many of my friends so far and I'm a bit bothered that I might fail, I do have huge blowouts and spend small fotunes on things I don't need, or even want, trying to stay focused and not doing too bad so far, going out for drinks tomorrow but meeting new fella later on so wont be spending too much as can't be drunk when I meet him!!!
1274, hope you're feeling better. I think there are no more orange smarties as the colour doesn't occur naturally, they would have had to use dyes to produce them which would mean more E numbers, i think it was the orange ones, they stopped making one colour because of it
Sweetpea - egg whites, make meringues, you only need sugar and I know you can freeze them, instant dessert, though you do have to have the oven on low for quite a while, I think, so might not be v MS, will check recipe book later.
Lasagne (can't remember who asked sorry)
Brown mince beef add onion and garlic (and any mushrooms etc if you have em) fry for few minutes add tin of tomatoes (or fresh) and some paprika or whichever spice you fancy, leave to cook for few mins.
put some in oven proof dish cover with pasta sheets then sliced cheese repeat till all mixture used finish with layer of cheese then put in the oven or under the grill until cheese is bubbling. Serve with salad, chips or garlic bread or all 3!
The recipe is really versatile, you can add as much or as little veg as you like or even put a cheese sauce with it too, I don't bother as I like it as above. Enjoy!
Hope you all have a great weekend, I'm out tomorrow then won't be back till sunday, all the very best to you all!0 -
Guys I'm in need of a bit of a boost up at the moment. The new mortgage free in three chart is just out (that's my reason for the 4K challenge) and I'm still near the upper end of the secured debt scale there. Just feel a bit futile at the moment - scrimping on every pound and watching my finances daily - not going out because when I do I seem to spend a tenner just walking out my front door - feeling cold because I don't want to put the heating on and hungry because, although I have food in the house I know I can't go shopping until the beginning of next month in order to keep to budget etc etc and I still have the wretched six figure debt to get rid of (and blew £33 in the past couple of weeks on meals and drinks out which isn't going to help).
Anyone else feeling a bit down at the moment?
Hello, hello, hello, whyfor dost though feel so glum?Thou shalt retrace thy daily mental steps to the point at which thou first needed boosting and then thou shalt take a look around at what thou art paying for during these torturous years :rotfl: It's a house that is your home. And when comparing 6 figure sums to a miserable little £33 then thou doest, indeed, need a reminder. I'm scraping every penny, turning pennies to rubber in the hope of stretching them pound-long because this is the EIGHTH house I have lived in since 2001!
One day, I WILL have a house that isn't owned by a landlord and rented on a short term lease, and never again shall I be brow-beaten by temporary work contracts that dictate my location. Stuff THAT for a game of soldiers! I would LOVE to be in my own house worrying about how to pay off the mortgage, but I can't even get a mortgage :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Chin up 1274, you do whatever it takes to live the debtfree life and chase that mortgage with whatever financial army you can muster. It WILL be worth it in the long run, it has to be!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
