Im sorry but i may have missed the point BUT .. you are not living on £4000 then really are you ? Some ppl really do have to live on that much whilst paying rent and water ates and so on . I think its good to show ppl they can live on a lot less but its no help to the ppl who really have to live on that much.
 Trying to get my life back !

i think you'll find some are living on that amount minus there mortgage /rent others will be living on different amounts ..i have noticed that some are selling things through ebay etc to help with the spending project this wont (i dont imagine) be coming off their £4000 as it is extra and should be treated as such ...or i could be totally wrong ofcourse ...but what i think is going on in this thread is a group of like minded people helping and supporting each other achieve their goals ...i would honestly like to say i could join them but i know that with my expenditure and expensive taste and hobbies that wont happen for me ...so i get to watch from the side lines and get copies of the wonderful recipes and ideas and for that i am grateful ...
  • :rotfl: Have just found an invitation in my inbox to try a new fabric conditioner! A freebie so can't refuse. Competition for the soapnuts! lol.

Hi Treasure - nice name - would like more of u lol. Some people are indeed living on only £4000 - and some even less than that through necessity ( i applaud all my fellow challengers :T). You can find full details in post no.1. :search:

:hello: Good morning Elantan Gr8 to c u again. Your kind words of encouragement are very much appreciated - thank you :happyhear

Have updated my siggy folks up until end of week 2 which for me was Monday 14th. Gonna stick to a weekly update from now on so's not to confuse my self (yes it is easily done lol)

:j Really happy that I am not as far away from my targets as I thought. I am sticking to Nyk/Sweetpea's list of things that should and should not be included, whilst being really careful not to overindulge on the things in the non-included list as I know this will only impair my debt repayments and savings.

Have never budgeted in my life, so it is all completely new and alien to me - still feeling a little flummoxed at times but really happy to be here. Thanks folks! :blushing:

Hi TREASURE, your post got me thinking about how much my years budget will actually be if I included everything. My target of £4000+CB includes everything except rent, council tax & water rates - they add up to £4584 a year (I am lucky to have a very low rent too) So my yearly total would in fact be a £4900 + £4584 which is £9484 a year for 5 of us. Interesting this. As you can see if I included my rent, council tax & water rates in a £4000 yearly budget I would be doomed before I'd even started with a figure of -£584!
I know that lots of people do have a lot less to live on but maybe they would get help by means of housing benefit etc? I love taking part in this challenge, the support & advice are fantastic & if it helps us think about what we are spending & reduces our outgoings then that has got to be a good thing hasn't it :)

Anyway have to get ready for work now or I'll be late :o See you all later :)

Its taken me for an age to read your posts where I left off! I'll either have to get up earlier than 5.30am or go to bed after midnight as I have to fight my DS for the computer!

Will update later as I know I will be spending on my 'blessed' car. Yes folks....the blonde moment continues!;) :rotfl:

Right then you lot I am holding you completely responsible...I now have a name for my affliction...it's called challenge by proxy syndrome [ie hooked to a challenge even though not partaking in it:D ] Aril

    Hello All :hello:

Just another one with challenge by proxy syndrome (great name Aril). I'm cheering you all from the side lines. I too spend far to much time catching up with you all. I serously considered joining when Nyk proposed the challenge but on reflection as I am going to have a very disruptive year. ( I hope to sell my house pay off my debts and down size later in the year and there are various other things going on which I won't bore you with) I decided against it.

Every time I log in this is the first thread I look at and I always refresh before loggin off to make sure I dont miss any thing.

Also just wanted to say Nyk you are an inspiration were do you get your energy from?

    Best wishes
