I have just had a bowl of sweetpeas' sweet potato & tomato soup. I made it in the microwave and put some grated cheddar on top when I served it. Delicious ! In fact I might have to have another bowl. Can't wait to try the Mushroom soup next. Thank you sweetpea. :T

  • Congratulations liuhut on those great prizes!

miss_pink, you reminded me of all the weird combinations of sandwiches we used to have when we were little, cheese & peanut butter, cheese & marmite, cheese & jam & jam & cream  when mum was feeling flush! The most disgusting thing was when she used to send us to school with pilchard sandwiches _pale_ can you imagine how soggy the bread was by the time lunchtime came!

redglass, thank you very much for the info on the books, I will look out for them on my next library visit, well done on your plummeting spending too :)

We had the curried chickpeas & chocolate bread & butter pudding for dinner & they were both really lovely & enjoyed by everyone (6 of us here for dinner tonight) so thanks again Thrifty & Lexxie :)

Does anyone know what I can do with the 2 leftover egg whites from the bread & butter pudding? I'm not sure if you can freeze eggs or not?

Hope everyone has a good evening, will be watching Martin on tv soon hoping for more useful info :)

PS thanks Ellidee, I'm glad you enjoyed it :) we posted at the same time, how spooky!!!

Well done Liuhut, you've had a good day! :T
I got a cheque back from my old energy supplier today which was a nice surprise - £37.29, thankyou very much! :D Yup, in the PMS pot for now (we can use it if we need to). So that means we've jointly saved over £130 so far this month :T mostly from stocking up on things while they're on offer (my personal saves are separate).

The other bonus of today is that I spent the afternoon decluttering one of the many areas in my house that needs it - I found loads of things I forgot I had (including a lovely dress from Monsoon that I got for £7 - just need to find a  I can't think of the word to go underneath it as it's completely see-through!); have a massive store of shampoo and deodorant to last me til about 2012 :D; stuff for Ebay and the charity shop; several presents for the Present Box and I threw away a few things I really couldn't reuse/recycle/pass on. So a) I'm v proud of myself for starting what is a mammoth task and b) I can make some cash! :j

    Hopeless
, the only thing I can think of has already been suggested, seeing if you can knock your DDs down any more?

Redglass, thanks for the tip about claiming the tax back on things bought for school; I'll definitely do that when I'm back at work as I spend loads on stuff for the kids. How would I go about doing it, is there a form or something?

And thanks for all the consideration with your posts today, I was only joking, I love hearing from you all about your days and moneysaving ways :D Ooh, I'm in a great mood! :j

oooh, sweetpea, your memories of school sandwiches brought some similar (yuck) ones back. Sardines in tomato sauce sandwiches.......and potted beef. By lunchtime it was warm and had a not very nice smell.....

I believe you can watch Martin online via www.itpaystowatch.co.uk (NOT .com). I think it has extra footage to the C5 programme but haven't done it myself. I don't think it's on the web until after the C5 version has gone out but it'll tell you on the website.

Sorted my accts out. Spent £12.99 on a necklace for DS's girlie. Caught me on the hop while we were in town.

Well first two weeks done and the total is £265 which is miles better than normal but its still frightening when you add up every day and it just snowballs thru the hundred barrier without me even going to the hole in the wall and actually getting any real money out. I agree with Fizzel that its really making me sit down and look where it goes. Today we've re-done the utilities which will save hundreds and should have been done years ago but you never quite get around to it.sweet pea you can definitely frezze egg whites. Saw Nigella on TV and she had loads in hers - each in its own little food bag.

xGingerx you should give it a go just for fun. 4k stretches a long way when you're counting it by the penny by the day :)

Andromache if you didn't live as a frugalite then you may not have afforded to snap up those bargains. Imagine that??!!

dND I'm hoping I get my soap nuts tomorrow

Redglass you are free to visit, read, post, whatever you like... it's FREE and we always like to read a few more tips and opinions :D

Liuhut, congratulations on your wins and Bails, congratulations on your surprise cashback cheque and what sounds like a very productive day! :T

My NSD teetered on the brink of disaster today after I had the misfortune to find www.underafiver.co.uk  I even went as far as fill my shopping basket then discovered I could sign up and get a 10% off voucher if I recommended to a friend :rotfl: I succeeded in NOT spending but will certainly be going there for a few items as soon as the virtual voucher arrives.

My Greasypalm account has broken through the £100 mark thanks to the recommendations about signing up to the gaming sites! (Shocked! Never thought I'd ever do a thing like that :D ) When that eventually gets paid out then it's going into my house challenge.

Catch you all later after my weekly dose of Martin - hope the chickens are on it!!! :T
