... Anyway, as it's sale time we decided to buy a new one from Argos on their 6 months free credit and pay it off within the 6 months so to avoid paying the interest, (and cut up the card when it comes through the door).

The above fits in with my way of thinking. I'm proud to have you on board - just remember to AVOID PAYING INTEREST LIKE THE PLAGUE :D :T

You don't even need to cut up the card - it may come in handy sometime you see a bargain and don't have the cash on you - just make sure you pay in full before interest kicks in. I have a couple of golden rules of thumb:

    1. Avoid paying too much tax (always check for rebates as soon after the tax year ends as possible)
    2. Avoid paying interest at all costs
    3. One exception to rule number 2 - it's ok to pay 2.5% interest whilst the stoozed cash gains 6% in your HI accounts
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • Mumzy - Glad they seem to be sorting you out now, I would just say that if it continues please go back and get re-checked.

DeBrag - Your list looks good, have you tried Value/economy cheese as its lovely (I get the mature/full flavour) and you get a huge chunk for less money!

Glad to hear they're doing something mumzy, hope you start to pick up soon, don't fret about the challenge too much!
Good to hear everyones still addicted, I'm trying to get my mum to join in, I'm going to go through the freezer and cupboards before she goes shopping again as she keeps saying she's going to cut back spending.

I've not done so well today, I spent £7 on a taxi as I was up late for work, on my 2nd day! I'm still pretty much within budget/challenge but I'm so annoyed as it is a complete waste of money when I bought a weekly yesterday grr!! Ah well, going to get ready for bed (and set my alarm earlier) now so I can fall asleep straight after Shameless!
    Good luck for Wednesday everyone!

I start Ice skating next week so that will be £11 each week. A lot I know but it for 45 mins lesson & practice then 3 hours of open session if I want. Had looked at other places but they were either just the lesson, not getting back to me or mix adults & kids which I didn't really want.

Bloody hell that is a bargain , I pay £12 for a 15 minute lesson for my daughter .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !
