I'm gonna have a go at this challenge, but only month by month I think!! I want to make a serious dint in my debts this year and 4k for the year will give me a few grand to pay them! Great!
Hi Rachyp, I'll add you in for £4000 and then you can see how far through the year it gets you, would that be better? If it looks totally impossible (at the rate food's increasing there may be a few of us into negative figures before 31/12/08:rotfl:) then you can always update your target figure. It's just a bit of fun budgetting with no hard and fast rulesI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Oooh - what a challenge! I'd love to join in at £5000, please!
My budget per month:
TV / Phone line - 15
Internet - 12.5
Mobile - 25
Gym - 39
Elec - 16
Gas - 16
Charities - 20
Food / household - 140 (often come in under this so will try and make savings here)
Other stuff in my Excel budget for 08:
Cats' injections - 100
Birthdays x 13 - 20 each
Contact lens stuff x 3 - 12 each
Haircut x 4 - 18 each
Hair stuff x 4 - 28 each
Clothes shop x 3 - 100 each
Clarins stock up - 80
Contents insurance x 1 - 100
TV licence x 1 - 140
Christmas - 350
Which makes £5092 a year (food is 13 times a year and bills are 12...as I'm paid 13 times a year so that's how I budget it!).
All saved money will go to paying off the mortgage.
Can I be REALLY annoying and ask to be number 24 after someone else has joined?? I have a thing about odd numbers, and I couldn't BEAR to be number 23. I have some OCD issues, I know....! Thanks for humouring me...
And thank you for the challenge!
Toto!!!!!!!!! LOOK!! There are 3 of us with this illness on here now :rotfl:

LOL! I also can't be in a room with circles as I only like shapes that tesselate, but that's a whole other story.
(And maybe, come to think of it, explains why I prefer paper money to coins - yet love 20p pieces?! *falls over laughing* - I'd never thought of that til now!)
Thanks for the add.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

I'm curious about your suggestion that some people are forgetting tax. Tax is deducted at source on earned income and bills are inclusive of tax. What tax has been forgotten?
Just some people seemed to be saying they had salaries of x, had outgoing of y, leaving them z to live on, but they seemed to be talking about their gross income.0 -

No, I only think about what actually goes into my acct. I never think about the tax etc that has gone out before.. (and anyway I'm always vague if you ask me what my salary is!):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I discount the tax as well, only budget with what actually goes into the account as mine. Mind you, mine's nothing compared to some of the posters on MSE :eek:I reserve the right not to spend.

I will try £3,000
3k?? Are you SURE?? I guess it could be possible if you're living at home with family, grew up in the north and have a Lidl or Aldi store within walking distance. We're getting an Aldi store built near us and I can't wait! :j I've even signed up for their online newsletter already!! :rotfl:
Welcome to the challenge and good luck. I'll add your details and expect absolute honesty when it comes to your daily spend diary LOLI reserve the right not to spend.
