  • Good Morning all

Firstly, just a quick thank you to all who posted supportive messages after my initial post on this thread. I can't tell you how much it meant to just get things off my chest a bit. As you'll probably realise, I don't open up to the people I know about the horrendous situation that is my life at the moment:rolleyes: .

I also want to apologise for that post because on reading it again in the cold light of day i realise what a winging wimp I appear:o . There is no reason at all why I should live like this, I'm an educated, professional woman for goodness sake. But I'm also too proud and stubborn for my own good, I don't like to feel I've failed in something as fundamental as making a go of a marriage that seems to be relatively easy for everyone else that I know. Plus, the main reason I've stuck with it is that my parents and brother can't stand DH! They disliked him from the outset but I was too blind to see what they saw in him:o . I think DH knew exactly what he was getting with me, I'm a bit timid and shy, I think I've got 'willing victim' tattooed on my forehead:eek:. My brother has never visited us here for 20 years, I always have to go to see him(without DH of course:rotfl: ). I had a breakdown in contact with my parents for about 12 years when they wouldn't come here and I was too stubborn to visit them as they insisted it was without DH and I wasn't prepared to do it. Things became reconciled to a certain extent between me and them( tho' still without visits here) but not between them and him IYKWIM. I just could never admit they were right and I was wrong about him and I just 'paint on a smile' and act as if everything is great. So, as you see, it's a pit purely of my own making.

And it's not all been bad. At least he isn't physically violent towards me, just shouts and rants until he's red in the face, slams doors, hurls crockery, books etc across the room. and bears a grudge for soooo long, forever bringing up the minorest of little failings on my part.

I shall be 50 in October and I've decided that I want to live the rest of my life in peace. Exactly what form that will take is still just a flurry of ideas and dreams at the moment but I will get there, I'm determined on this at least:j . Fortunately (or not:confused: ) we didn't have children so really I'm a totally free-agent.

Am so looking forward to Nykmedia's challenge. I feel empowered because Nykmedia has given me number 007. That must be an omen or something:rotfl:

I promise this is the last time I'll go on about my personal circumstances on this thread. There's a big market for 'horror stories' so I might even start my own diary thread in the New Year:rolleyes: .

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding, everyone
    Hugs from Imp x

Since joining this challenge I have signed up to 'win 2008 in 2008' (so I'll enter more competitions) and one to finance Xmas with vouchers/cashback from websites/prizes etc. I think they will all work in conjunction nicely with each other..and will mean I can save some extra money every week that I would have budgeted for Xmas. Just need to get myself organised now....

  • I'm going to do this - £4k but not include gas/electricity as OH pays for it and has set up his DD way above what we actually use. Will be tricky - especially with a new baby and the car, but hopefully will be able to do it!

  • Eek! I've just tallied up my costs and before food and petrol my annual spending comes to over £3,800 (and we're pretty good at budgeting in my mind!). But I suppose that that's for me and my OH and so in theory that means we could say we've got anothe £4,200 for food, petrol, special occasions, gifts, etc, which isn't so bad. It makes you wonder how people manage on such low incomes.
