PS: Hi Shell, hi Julie, welcome to another wacky challenge forum. Don't you just love it here on MSE?

Well - that's why I'm entering most of the competitions on the competitions thread!

(I must admit Dithering Dad's post worried me. Can't say I did much number-crunching before I put my name down).

nykmedia - pls can you give us some tips to get us started.

That'll do nicely... a new member joining in February with a budget of £5000 for 10 months so they can pay an extra 2k off their mortgage  :T :j :rotfl:

Woah! As self-appointed official adjudicator of this challenge, I can't see how 'filling your freezers isn't cheating!! This can't be allowed, surely!!

What next, spend 5k on clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc in a manic shopping trip on New year's Eve?

    I don't think I can allow this...:naughty:

    I suspect it was a joke ;):p
  • Right I should be marking Mock exams and doing work stuff but once again MSE has distracted me - I am even ignoring CSI for heaven's sake...

this challenge has me fascinated. I am in a VERY lucky situation, I live at home (despite my advanced age) basically cos I like it. I pay Mum rent which covers my food, except lunch which I try and buy if Mum doesn't get there first!

so I should be able to manage this, in fact with some intial workings out it would really help with my pay off 10,000 pounds challenge too.

I will be back with a plan.

Yes, but mine will be filled with Christmas surplus and turkey stock for soups and sauces because I'm already doing this challenge :D Howsat?

Well, DD, you made me laugh then.. I'm clarifying my thinking on this. I did already ask for hampers for Xmas from anyone who gave me a choice so hopefully January's food bill will be low.
Clotheswise, it'll only be the little fella as he's growing rapidly. OH and I should be able to manage on what we've got/bday and Xmas presents.
Our challenge is very much, can we do it for a year? rather than on an ongoing basis.
So we won't be stocking up per se, but will be using everything we've already got in place.
