    Mumzy,

Over the weekend, I have been reading Martin's new book. Admittedly, it doesn't contain anything that I haven't already seen on this site in various places, but it just somehow seems much easier to digest in a little handbag friendly size. I think if you got a copy you would find it interesting reading, and I do think it's worth the money. I like it best out of the books of his that I have got. I think it would support you in changing your attitude to spending (like I've had to). I think you're great anyway. I wish I had found this site when I was your age, and had your motivation too at that age. You can really change things for your family and that's exciting.

I will post more tomorrow, just busy on some other stuff tonight. Nothing thrilling, just a shopping list for Lidl now my child benefit is hitting the account tomorrow!

Forgot to say that there is a big section on budgeting in the appendix. Again, stuff that's available on the site anyway for free, but it seems more accessible in the book, and more fun and easier to read in bed!

Thank you for my number Nykmedia.
I feel I should be buying as much as I can before my official start date on Tuesday :p

Good news is, my freezer is full to bursting so I have a head start on the food front. I have been gathering as many branches as I can to use on the log burner. I will have to mix them with the dry logs we have as they're not seasoned.
And, as the temperature in our bedroom has only been 6C of late, I will have to buy an electric blanket that fits the bed!

The bread turned out much better than the first lot, Thanks for the recipe Mrs Macawber. Very straightforward but need to do it a few more times to get into the swing of it and stop referring to your post evry five minutes. Thanks Ephemera for the tip about the yeast. Its exactly that stuff in the tin and its certainly older than a month. Mrs Macs recipe calls for fresh as well so I'll get some next week.Let me know how the sourdough goes. It sounds interesting even if I'm not quite ready for it yet!

Hi Janey51, you have been through so much recently but you seem so positive about everything. Fingers crossed that everything goes to plan with your new job because I wholeheartedly agree with anyone who decides to cut the money to budget within a different lifestyle. I would far prefer to be skint and happy than halfway around the bend or in the depths of despair depressed by a high-paid job that I hated. You go for it, whatever you have in mind and I wish you every success.

Electric blankets - I love mine and don't care if some see it as an extravagance; it's much cheaper than turning up the bedroom heater through the night :)

Don't forget to search for the best deals online and get cashback or points for any online shopping you do.

There isn't anywhere near the amount of traffic on eBid as on eBay, but you can plug your own items in a special forum (which is where I check for bargains) and there's quite a fair sized group of us band together to do a few extra promotional 'stunts' like special bargains, selling challenges etc. However, I don't think we're allowed to talk about it on MSE, so apologies if I have already stretched the rule a bit, it was only to respond to the question. I'm using eBid for my 'start a cottage industry' challenge because I can leave stuff listed indefinitely without incurring any fees until sold. (Except, as a storeholder, I don't get charged fees on sales either, when I use basic listings :T )
