Just got back from work and feel so much better than I did earlier.:j
I thought that I would be spending £75 plus on a new battery for my car as it died last night whilst I was at work. In fact what I had done was to immobilise it with the key fob whilst I was in the car!!:o
I was having a blonde moment....no offence to you lovely fair-haired ladies out there, but you know what I mean!;)
Sweetpea. I thank you again for your kindness and support earlier.:ALiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Hi, folks, everyone is doing so well....yet another NSD for me....I haven't been near a supermarket since I did the pre Christmas shop, and I don't intend to go until next month and only then if the cupboards are completely empty. I am still living out of my freezer. Someone gave me a big greenhouse today so I am going to grow more of my own food. I still have £74.10 left for the month but I did pay the whole year's building insurance of £89 earlier this month so I am very pleased. Well done everyoneWombling £457.410

Does ya husband not think ya crazy with all your spending and challenges you do :j :j
Hmm... lemmee see the best way of putting this... I used to have one of those and he probably did (or possibly still does) think I'm crazy so, if I ever buy another one, (that would have to be a real special offer) then I'll make sure they know up front that crazy is part of the deal :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Funbrum, the immobiliser incident is like something I would do!! Except I now call them 'grey moments' :rotfl:
Sashacat, you got a greenhouse!! :T I'm suffering from post-garden-digging-stress-disorder tonight and had just been in the food growing threads. Well done on the greenhouse, what a bargain freebie! Well done and I hope you have tremendous fun growing more food
Mumzi, thanks for the update on your budget, I'm pleased you got it sorted out so quickly and you'll soon be right back on track :T
Skint - I'm playing catch-up as well, so will be trying to live out of the cupboards and freezer for most of January. I'm going to try to find the thread about that as I know there's one here somewhere. Aren't sons juyst wonderful assets to any budget? Mine's eating the hot-baked bread at the moment!!!
Olive - just go into the 'buy' section then go to 'women's clothing' to see what the competition's like before you list. It's worth it if you aren't in a massive rush to sell.
My MrsMCawber loaf turned out OK but won't last very long as about a quarter of it has gone already. The economy fruit loaf is delicious (had to have a little slice while it was still hot!) and I recommend the recipe to anyone. I had some demerara sugar left so made it half n half with that and it turned out ok. Perhaps best freeze half of it though, as it doesn't look likely to last long either. Son hasn't even spotted that yet!
Bails - you cannot have a donkey, not yet, anyway :rotfl:
Sweetpea - just saying thank you again as you are always here helping everyone along, boosting confidences and being so totally committed to the challenge. Well done!
Fallen angel - as soon as you admit to yourself that you want to stop smoking then it is so much easier. You can do it! I'm on day 14 and am counting every penny that I don't spend on them. If I'd done this last year, I just worked out that I could have afforded to buy a donkey!!(I was a member of the quit smoking challenge thread, but I left before I got banned from there
)
Almost the end of week 2 and it's so far, so good... let the fun begin again from tomorrow :TI reserve the right not to spend.

Hi Mumzi, I was thinking about your ciggie spend - could you and your OH agree to both of you cutting right down? Delay the first cig of the day later and later and aim at cutting right down if it's impossible to stop right now? Don't try to save the ciggie money, spend it on something else, like an extra payment each week to one of the higher interest rate debts? How much do you normally smoke between you in a day? You could combine this into a chart and make it part of your 4k challengeI reserve the right not to spend.

Go back a page to where I have put the photo into the post :rotfl: He was cute! He was fluffy! He was scruffy! But I resisted the temptation to take him home because he wasn't part of my budget. If, however, I had quit smoking last January then I'd have had enough spare cash to afford to buy said cute, fluffy, scruffy little donkey.I reserve the right not to spend.
