Mumzy, if you don't have receipts then just count up what you have received and then compare it with what you have left, that'll show you how much you have spent. I stick all my receipts in a box after I have marked them into my spending diary and then update my signature here. Don't rely on the signature here though as my first one was lost when MSE deleted it for linking to this thread :(
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • hya nyk.......re the phone call to OZ, sat down at the landline, at bottom of stairs in a cold hallway, used the number and then the dialling codes for Perth.... couldnt get connected...GRR, not any fault of the number you gave me that worked brill, but my sis moved recently and during the christmas phone call I took down her new number, wrongly as it turned out!!!! Im a number short

I texted my Glasgow sis who's there for January, but havent has a reply yet. I reckon they must be down at Aust sis's beach house, which is out of range of mobiles. Australian sis has done really well, worked really hard and is reaping the benefits.

So it will probly be nest weekend before I can phone again, but I'll let you know how I get on.

Will update my sig tomorrow but Ive only spent about 40 pounds this week, if that :j (apart from the kitchen and bathroom suite that is)

Mumzy your still doing really well, you sorted a lot out in the last week. We all have the odd blip every now and again, forgive your self and forget about it!!! At 20 you have so much time and your kids are still young so by the time they want things rather than needing them you will be in a position to do that with out it breaking the bank. I bet they will also grow up knowing the value of money...my DD does she is soo tight, if we borrow a £1 she expects £2 back!!! Should add that shes 6!

NYK - Thats a lovely story about the horses!!! I used to ride from 4 but now she is on there Im thinking oh god what if she falls, def make me go more grey!! She is just going to go once a fortnight to try and keep the costs down a bit. Oh meant to ask if you are near Gretna, we got married up there last year, we had a lovely time, pure MSE wedding!!
    WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000
MFIT - number 37. Reduce my mortgage from £63,500 to £48,000. now at 54,000...
  • Wornout... in your signature it says "earn £10 a day..." What's all included in that and can you point me in the direction of the thread, please? I'd love to reduce my outgoings to (an average of) £10 per day and that would cover it!
Basically you try and earn £10 a day any which way you can - such as Ebay, surveys, cash back sites, writing reviews.

The link to the thread is here: (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=650679&highlight=earn+%A310+a+day

  • well done mumzy of 2, you are trying to make this work like the rest of us. No one said it was going to be easy and I am sure at several points in the year we are all going to be in the same boat. The main thing is that we pick ourselves up, regroup and try again. Everything we save will put us in a better position than we would have been in, and lessons we learn will be with us for life if we choose to - I know I am finding it really hard, and at some point I am sure that my will power will get the better of me!!!!!!! We all are supporting each other, and by sharing our ideas successes and problems we will all get through it

Nykmedia thank you for continuing your horse story. We went to Gatehouse of Fleet 20+ years ago for a weeks holday and it is a beautiful part of the world. Had a run to Stranraer one day but all I remember about it is the ferry ! :o

  • Hi, I'm very confused as to how this is possible to live on £4000 a year. Our expenditure, bills, insurance, tv, phones, petrol etc comes to £360 per month and that's after we pay our mortgage of £1024, Water £38 and Council Tax £130. £4000 divided into the 52 weeks comes to £333 yet our outgoings are £360 before food!! Am I seeing this wrong somehow? We live very frugally as after our mortgage and bills as above are paid we have very little money left out of my husband's salary as it is. I'd love to live on £4000 a year but I don't see how..
