Ooh nykmedia that's a great story- so what happened next ? Don't keep us in suspenders !

At the point of purchasing said 'little horse' I wasn't aware that the male line of a racehorse's pedigree was of very little significance, so my Mill Reef grand daughter wasn't really that special :rotfl: However, I now had a point to prove, that anyone can do anything they want to do if they set their mind to it. so I quit smoking, took another part time job, lost a bit of weight and started following my plan for DIY frugal racehorse ownership. Boy, did we get laughed at and no, the horse never won a race. But she did go racing on three different occasions and she had her own little band of fans yelling for her to cross the finish when she went off at 200-1 :D

I should add that in every horserace there is one winner, a couple of places and the rest are all losers. In every race, a horse MUST finish last. That's the nature of competition. But if you are having fun being a part of that then who cares what anyone else says, thinks or does? Who cares that you didn't get there the same way everyone else did. The fact was, we got there - 3 times :) The horse is now retired from racing, but competes (and wins prizes) 'down south' for her new owner.

Hi Mumzy, panic not, for you have not failed, you have succeeded in needing to recalculate your budget to avoid losing control of it :) Look at my spend amount!!  £736.22 in 12 days!!! :)

Just deduct what you have spent from the £4000 and then work out what you have left to last you the next 354 days. main thing is not to panic, it's a balancing act mixed with juggling and tightrope walking. This thread is the Big Top and we are all taking part in the magic money circus :D

  • I'm sure it is quite easy to lose track, I would just keep going, I have failed with my budget miserably this week but as I have only been doing this for two weeks I look at it as a learning curve. Pick up where you left off if you can, if you started on the 1st then week 3 should be starting on Tuesday.
    Payment a day challenge: £236.69
    Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250

  • Just remembered something, my son had a bad temperature last night and was in bed with us, so I commented that I could fry an egg on him (I always say that).

Husband pipes up with "Careful son or she'll be cooked the veg on you to save putting the oven on and using electric!"

Obviously he's noticed my current obsession.

Great advice Nyk.I like the way we can just recalculate at the end of the week or month whatever way suits :)

I live in the southwest in a kind of rural area that feels like living on an island! Nearest 'big' town is Stranraer. There isn't a lot to buy here; no butcher, no baker, no takeaways and one small Co-op. We do have a library and a Post office, so it's OK for free reading material and for posting stuff sold online. :T

Wornout... in your signature it says "earn £10 a day..." What's all included in that and can you point me in the direction of the thread, please? I'd love to reduce my outgoings to (an average of) £10 per day and that would cover it! :)
