  • morning everyone & congratulations on the job Lexxi :j

I am not having a good start to the day :( I went online to check my bank & I was £10.28 overdrawn  I couldn't understand why so went back through all the transactions. What had happened was that despite the payment for the Tesco hampers showing on my statement when I bought them, it has now disappeared from the day when it was showing & reappeared on Thursday, the same day that a card payment I had made in a shop in mid december  finally showed up. I am so upset :(
I've transferred £60 from my saving to cover the charges when they appear, overdrawn amount & a bit to put me back in credit but I am in a muddle now over my budget. I guess I'll just have to take £60 off my yearly amount, is that right?
Well I've learnt a valuable lesson I guess & will be checking my bank each day now & writing down everything that is paid from my card. And not assume that if a payment is showing on my statement that it has actually been paid  I think I'm going to try & pay in cash as much as possible from now on to simplify things.
Hope you all have a better start to the day!

When/if the charges appear on your statement, it should be worth a phone call to the bank to see if they will remove them - explain how the mistake happened - they will see you quickly rectified it. I did that last year when I paid a bill from our joint instead of my account and they just said 'okay' and refunded me.

Don't ask - don't get! (In the words of my ol' papa) - The worst they can do is say 'no'.

    Good luck.

  • Should be a NSD for me.

I can't believe I've managed to get to the 12th of the month and not set foot in a supermarket!!

I think the time has come where I'll have to go tomorrow. I've no washing powder, milk, bread, no flour to make bread and I'm on the last droplets of hairspray and deodorant. I've still got plenty of meat, so adding up what is on my list, hopefully it won't come to more than between £8 and £10. I'll probably give myself a limit of £10 and try to stock up enough flour etc to get me through a week.

I'm doing a keema tonight, I think I've got some chapati flour languishing at the back of a cupboard somewhere I can make some chapatis to go with it and the rice - it will mean I don't have to cook as much rice.

My monthly budget this month was £300 I shall go over that by the end of the money (no food come end of next week, shouldn't be more than £10 ish though and Feb I'll be under my budget (£250) as I won't have that much to spend after all my bills go out.
I'm used to living wage to wage not start-end of month.

thanks very much funkymonkey, I will do & will let you know how I get on. I was feeling like all my efforts in keeping to the budget this week were in vain :( but hopefully it will all work out ok :)

Keren your hairspray is lasting forever! :D :T
  • Im rounding this week off as a bad job. Will get back on the wagon on today. Im sure I'll make up for it over the year. Was poorly at the beginning of the week so didn't make any plans for food etc...so takeaways and my fella going shopping instead of me doesn't help.
