:hello: Just love the little wavey man and need to cheer myself up. I was feeling cheery having gone through my first day without spending anything as I didn't have time to go to the shops on my way home from work. Now I've goan and bought a headboard online - that leaves me with about £5 for 6 days.... still, it will be a good exercise in eating what is in the cupboard and I needed to do that anyway as I am moving on Monday!
This probably isn't the place for it but has anyone any advice on the best way to clean a toilet? I've got some stuff to use up but I will need to buy a toilet brush for my new flat (the one I've got at the moment belongs here) and the toilets (yep 2 toilets for a single person but it is shared ownership so too good to turn down even thought there are lots and lots of things I would rarther have different) are filthy becuase they have had hard water sitting in them for months since they were built.:o

If anyone needs to stock up on toiletries/pressies for 2008 then keep an eye on the latest posts on this thread for the Boots 75% off sale which should be happening very soon! The sale starts online before it starts in the shops.

If you go make sure you get there early, I went last year & everything was flying off the shelves. Hope this helps somebody0 -

Can't recall where I saw it, but think it was in the old style boards; I'm sure it said vinegar was great for removing limescale (don't quote me on this). Does this sound right, anyone? We have soft water in Scotland, so never really worry about what happens with hard water. Hmm, which reminds me, I learned the difference after living & working 'down south' for a while. When I returned to the north I flooded everywhere in bubbles and soap suds for the first few weeks. :rotfl:
On the Stardrops subject, have you tried Co-op or any of your nearest pound-type shops? That's where I usually get mine. If they stock Zaflora, they usually stock Stardrops

Hi again,
tryingtodobetter, I have bought Martin's new book but it hasn't turned up yet. Will let you know. tbh I'm not expecting it to be too different to his teen guide that's on line anyway. Just think that if I have a book version lying around family members may pick it up and learn something, lol.
Umm, now what did I do today? Got my stardrops (did I mention that before, lol), got some washing powder but couldn't get the ultra cheap arial from morrisons. Shame. Got 2 books from Asda for £1 each for my brother's bday hamper. Got Asda to use 95p coupons. They didn't want to but apparently (after the supervisor came over) will take up to 3 coupons as long as they sell the stuff in the shop. Weren't overly happy about it, but then, they didn't know I am on this challenge!
Managed to combine a lot of different jobs into 1 car journey to save fuel so pleased.
Have sent off my order for 3x issues moneywise mag free. Will now set up a tart alert to canx it & the DD in time. Oh, getting organised.
Bought my argos antquariums (2 for £7.49) I for DS bday and t'other for a schoolfriend's bday. Also got a nice toiletry set for a girl schoolfriend's bday so am prepared.
Talked my artistic OH into agreeing to help DS make bday cards for his friends this year with my existing craft stuff so am confident they will look good and be tailored to the individual.
Did loads, far too much/far too trivial to list. My first mortgage overpymnt ever has gone out today and it doesn't even feel painful (I thought it might worry me, being 'lost' forever, but it doesn't). Feeling in control - touch wood.
Well done everybody, it's making good reading and spurring me on.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Hi
I hope it's ok if I update my spends on a monthly basis, I spent £1 yesterday, but often go 2 or 3 weeks without spending anything.

Well done everyone!
I'm feeling like this today - :j but that's because I have had a great day shopping not saving! I think I've spent about £130 which is about double what I'd budgeted but is a huge improvement for me, I didn't usually budget before going out and can spend that per shop I've bought some leggings and skinny jeans so will be able to wear some of the shorter stuff in my wardrobe too and some shoes which will go with lots of outfits and everything was in the sale. Going to work it all out and update my signature. Tomorrow should be nsd...0
