I'm also a stardrops girl - I get mine from my local Asda.
Well, the bread from the freezer is now all gone so the breadmaker is doing its stuff as I type. Chucked a bit of stale grated cheddar in so should get cheesey bread.
I'm on my last squirt of hairspray......"Stay Wonky":D

Was contemplating the £4000 a year challange but then I calculated that I live on under that amount a year anyway because my monthly debt repayments are so high - lol
Good Luck to all involved x;)Joined 08/01/2008

Hi Guys,
Have read through the posts and will be checking out some of the sites mentioned. Have had a bit of a hmmmm day today. Son wanted(!!) to go shopping with me as he wants to eat more healthily in 2008. We drove to the nearest small town 8 miles away and visited all 3 supermarkets in order to save money. Still spent a whopping £56.00 (of which £6.49 was for his razorblades!). Next week it is definitely back to Asda for me. Spent half an hour cutting the dog's treats into thirds to make them last longer. Then I made lentil and potato bake for tea (cost less than £1.00 to feed 3 of us) with a large salad. Even grumpy son ate it and said it was 'nice' which means it must be delicious as he is a confirmed meat eater.
Put my 'copper pot' into the Coinstar today and ended up with £14.21 which has gone into my £1,000 target for Christmas 2008. However, I'm a bit cheesed off as several months ago I got an invitation to join Simply Bingo' with one of my comping mags. I joined with £10.00 and Simply Bongo added £10.00. I'd played a couple of games and yesterday decided to 'waste' the rest of my stake. Whilst waiting for the bingo game to start, I idly had a go at the slot machines and won £20.00. Whoaa! I asked for a cheque to be sent to me for that amount and decided that would go into my Christmas account as well. Today I got an email saying that my winnings had been forfieted because I couldn't draw any money out of my account until I'd paid at least £40.00 in!!! oh well.
Anyway, I think I will be over my weekly budget of £86.00 this week (also over by £5.48 last week), but determined to be in monthly budget by 31st Jan (£344.00)

Today went as planned and only spent £5 on my train ticket. I'm getting a reputation at Uni now as during break and lunchtimes I ask for a mug of hot water from the cafe (this is free) and then pull out a tea bag from my pocket and top up with a little milk from the side.
I don't think the cafe staff like me though!
For my lunches I've been using up the cheese and crackers we have left over from Christmas. They're surprisingly filling!~ Lexie ~The Minimoilist.Saving money and the planet at the same time.0 -
Still haven't worked out where to buy stardrops... nowhere near me seems to sell them
Tescos, Sainsburys and Waitrose are all stardropless near me. I live in Edinburgh...

Am in central Scotland and the only place I can find stardrops is Morrissons. Its great for everything even takes curry stains out of whites!!! and the odd spill of red wine......am messy...... . was rereading some old threads the other night and some folk have used it as a replacement for washing up liquid....not too sure bout that one though. Theres a stronger one too, which really takes the grease off anything. Its a milky looking liquid.......just remembered......called Starclens. I need to replace both sooncheerio hen0 -
I use stardrops too, have done ever since I read about it on the old style boards. I get it from Home and Bargain, which is very cheap.
I am doing this challenge monthly and, after all my DDs have gone out I have £193.32 per month. I have done really well so far this month but today I have renewed my buildings insurance which I pay as an annual lump sum as it is cheaper this way. This means a whopping £89.85 has gone from this month's total. I have been really careful but now have only £64.10 left for the whole month. I am determined to live on that until 1st February! I am finding that I am watching every penny though and eating from the freezer, but I need to get petrol soon....panic!!!:eek:Wombling £457.410 -
Our local Morrisons is quite small and they stock stardrops, usually hidden on the bottom shelf of course, as all the high profit stuff is at eye level... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I used it for washing up once when I'd run out of washing up liquid - does the job a treat.
I've just said 'pooh' very loudly. I pulled the breadmaker plug out for a second to put it in the adjoining socket so I could plug in the microwave and the breadmaker didn't remember where it was in the programme - so it went back to the beginning  I've stuck it on the Quick programme which would be about where it was on the full one and i'm keeping everything crossed something edible emerges.
