    Hi everyone:D

Time for an update I think. I've been reading the thread avidly each day, but due to spending nearly every spare waking moment entering competitions, have not had a chance to post. Just hoping that I win something! Everyone seems to be doing really well in the challenge so far.

Spending wise doing Ok so far. Total spent in sig includes all DD's for the month and 2 weeks shopping, so not too much left to pay for, fingers crossed. Going to make leftover veg soup and a cake this afternoon and then try and win something(again!). With my luck can't see much chance though............

Hi Mumzy, yes, I'm a Keren. It's a Hebrew name, quite common in Israel apparently!! I've got a very Irish surname so it's an odd combination!!

The only other I've heard of is Keren Woodward from Bananarama!!

    Spends £1.60 DD's travel
£0.70 flapjack bar, (going to make my own tonight to save me buying them)
    Total £2.30

Well got home from college to find a letter/bill from Scottish power, I am £19.28 in credit, so they are going to reduce my monthly DD's by £3.50 a month, starting from Feb, so that reduces my overall electric payments by £38.50 for the year. Not bad considering I ALWAYS use the dryer during winter.

Your Electricity assessment for 01/01.08 to 30/12/08
    Estimated electricity charges £331.86
    Discounts -£10.44
    Charges excluding VAT £321.42
    VAT £16.07
    Balance brought forward -£19.28
    Estimated total charges £318.21

Lets see if I can get it even lower over the forthcoming year.
January DD £30.00 Feb onwards DD £26.50

don't worry taka - I've had all sorts of spellings over the years.......including Kevin........from someone I'd actually spoken to!!!!!!!

I suppose the ultimate insult would have been if I'd had a meeting with this person at work - and they still thought I was called Kevin!

I've had a good day sorting out stuff and decluttering. Christmas decorations thinned out and put away. Messy cupboard sorted out and items either binned or given away. (I don't ebay). Summer clothes sorted out and many dusters created! Kitchen cupboard purged of stuff I've had for ages and don't use. All given away. Thanks for this thread. I'd never have spent so much time in one day decluttering but now I hope to keep up the good habit.

Just checked on-line banking and £25.17 came out on the 5th for WoW, not sure weather to include or not, as I thought it was due out on 31st Dec so in effect part of last years costs.

  • I have easily been living off less then 4K a year since i was a little baby, now 25 years old, 3 years of that was as a student, now employed and earn 32k (what doesnt go on the mortgage is invested). Although I have a mortgage and council tax but these are excluded. I have been on a holiday ive paid for once and that was 200 quid on a lastminute deal.

Its very easy to live of less then 4K for a single person, and I do go out at least once a month for a heavy 60+ quid drinking session. I dont think my life is compromised in any way, but i am very carful, I try not to get new things, always search for cheapest car insurance and run a 70mpg car that I paid 500quid for. I track spending with a spreadsheet and keep to a budget of 300 quid a month.
