Hopeless, you may need a change of username soon because you certainly don't sound 'hopeless' as a spendthrift now :T
I was going to save this little 'nugget' until the end of the month, but I just cannot wait that long :rotfl: It's like a 'bonus' part of this challenge that we use as a reward scheme for hitting our targets. It's every bit as hard as the 4k challenge but ... no... I can't do it... I can't tell you yet... it is just me being over enthusiastic ... and I must learn to curb my obsessive enthusiasm. I'll tell you all at the end of the month, but you can only take part in the bonus if you have met the targets you set out for month one.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Was sat here earlier thinking about buying a Chinese take-away, but then realised I'd have to admit in on here and decided to have a h/m cottage pie from frezer instead. Tasted even better when I realised that I had @saved' £13 bt not ordering the Chinese.
So far this week I've spent £48.45, including the money put aside for bills.

Thanks Nyk!
But you are a terrible for teasing us about this 'bonus' aspect to the challenge!
Hope I have calculated my figures properly bc maths never was my strongest subject, or perhaps it is the lateness (or rather earlyness) of the hour!
Also have just remembered that I placed an order with Asda earlier (Free delivery folks before 9th Jan if u spend over £50 with voucher no: M3-CH-NY-28) for just over £50  this will take me way, way over my planned budget for the week and month. It is a spend which includes washing powder though and some things which I have ordered twice as many of than I usually would, taking advantage of the free delivery, so don't plan to do another big shop for at least 2 weeks...this may have to be the final one of the month tho, have to w8 and see how i manage to [STRIKE]cope[/STRIKE] juggle with the remaining time and money!
Will have to wait until the order arrives on Monday to change the figures accordingly.
Hope I have not been prematurely optimistic although it is all a learning process which I am thoroughly enjoying!
Wishing you all a good night and an equally good weekend

Find Last Minute Items On Ebay, All Under £1
www.Lastminute-auction.com/uk
This site is great if you want a quick bargain.
It shows all items on ebay that are under a quid and finishing in less than 1 hour.
It also shows P&P costs, how many bids have been placed on the item and when you click on each link it opens in a new window - which i find handy.
:T have fun

Ooh Nyk, you're a tease! I HATE not knowing stuff like this! And I haven't set myself a target for the month, so does that mean I'm automatically in?!
How do you find the time to do everything you do? I am so impressed, if a little daunted!
Now if only I had the 'I'm not worthy' smilie!
I too am enjoying this challenge, my biggest challenge so far is keeping track of things. I've started a spending diary (of which there seems to have been lots so far! - I'm hoping it's sensible spending, by getting things in the sales) and also a savings one but I also have loads of bits of paper with useful tips on etc; I think I'm going into information overload! And I'm meant to be simplifying my life this year...:rotfl:Any tips about what works for you all would be lovely!
Also, sorry to be a pain Nyk, but after your earlier post, I've decided to take my car out of the equation and therefore would like to stick to the 4k please. The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Gave my neice £10 in an envelope for her birthday, then got two bottles of bubble bath from Body Shop site with free delivery for £10 (2 pressies) spent £51.04 in local shop on groceries, reckoned it was better than going to Tesco's as I always spend more than I need in there. Had sort of a lightbulb moment in my sleep last night that if I managed to do this for 2008 it could become a way for life, cos its not as if on 1 Jan 09 I am going to go back to my normal ways as I will have been so frugal for so long:j
£5128.96 left all though kids go back to school on Monday and I always get hit with money there:eek:Live on a little over £4k challenge

I have to do some number crunching to see where I am but my first week has been a tough one.
The children needed to get to the Alps to start their ski season yesterday. I don't count ski related costs in this challenge as they total £10k on their own, so I need to separate costs incurred this week and allocate them between skiing and non skiing - but I have spent loads on petrol, hotel en route, food etc, to get them to their base.
Also, though, which will be included in the challenge I suppose, is the fact that before we could get the children to France, we had to spend £300 on getting the car fixed  Almost 10% of my annual target, gone in a flash.
So, although my spending on groceries and stuff is still on target, other things are getting in my way of saying that I am on target.
I am keeping receipts and will write them in my book and update the actual totals at the end of today.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
