I went to London today with my parents and sister to go to the ballet. As it's a Christmas tradition my parents paid for it all so I only had to spend £2.30 on the train to get to their station and 20p to use the toilets at Kings Cross. Total: £2.50.~ Lexie ~The Minimoilist.Saving money and the planet at the same time.0

nykmedia can I join the challenge please? Will try for £5000, that's for me, 2 teenagers and a cat, I've included the child benefit.
Have been reading threads for a few weeks, but this is the first time I've replied to one.
I think I'll join the grocery challenge too, as they seem to fit well together.
So far I've spent £8.81 on groceries and £4 on a pair of slippers.

How fantastic is this? 110 people have now signed up to this challenge in a bid to spend and save wisely for a full year (at least
).
IHateDebt - challenger number 107 - £4000
Frugal Fox - challenger number 108 - £4000
Looby-Loo - challenger number 109 - £4000 + Child Benefit
LingoJingo - challenger number 110 - £5000 inc Child Benefit
Looby-Loo, you have your work cut out with OH by the looks of things, so I'd leave him to buy whatever it is he feels the urge to buy but make sure it hits his pocket and not your household budget - then show off your cash savvy ways with a special treat next year :T
Sweetpea PLEASE don't mention those hampers, I was so upset at missing them I wanted to say mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah sob, sniff, I really, really, really liked those wicker hampers and would have refilled them for pressies next year.
Everyone still having fun and getting to grips with counting all the expenditure and freaking out at the cost of living when you multiply it all up to 361 days that we still have left? The fun has just begun!
I joined Pigsback a week or 2 ago and ordered my little piggy as soon as I could. He arrived today amidst a great flurry of excitement! The postman got piggy stuck in my letterbox!! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I spent £250 on having 20 lights in my flat fixed - but it was budgeted for and set aside in a separate account last year, so I'm not counting it!
Also spent £8.49 on Contact Lens solution and £8.69 on food for church tomorrow morning (having breakfast!). However, they are both part of my December budget, though, as I'm not 'starting' my Jan budget til I'm paid Weds week!' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
I'm really enjoying this challenge.I've got bread baking away in my bread machine at mo to go with my home made left over veg soup. This should do us for lunches this next few days.Every little saved from my grocery bill goes towards savings for this challengelost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Or just don't pay, if there's no-one there then pull the barrier towards you a little, and it lets you get past it without payingI will do that or go into McDonalds or a pub
