I had to return something to Mr. T's today and it was a real struggle not to buy other unnecessary stuff.
I managed to spend £6.39 plus a £1 on a lottery ticket. Apart from that only one direct debit come out so far £20. No disasters here yet!!!!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Ill update again next weekend.
Onwards and upwards everyone.0 -

I joined Pigsback a week or 2 ago and ordered my little piggy as soon as I could. He arrived today amidst a great flurry of excitement! The postman got piggy stuck in my letterbox!! :rotfl:[/quote]

Sweetpea PLEASE don't mention those hampers, I was so upset at missing them I wanted to say mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah sob, sniff, I really, really, really liked those wicker hampers and would have refilled them for pressies next year
oh nyk I'm really sorrybut I would be very happy to post you one of the wicker baskets if you would like one to fill with pressies
Its the least I can do in return for all the money your challenge is going to save me this year
Just pm me if you would like one and I'll post it to you next week
Hello & a very warm welcome to all the new challengers :j :hello:0 -
Oh, thanks for that, Sweetpea, I really appreciate your kind offer but I wouldn't dream of alleviating you of such a prized possession.
Don't look sad when you should be happy! You did really well getting in on such a great bargain. It's like they say, the early bird catches the worm and I overslept on this one (or our local stockist had none to begin with, perhaps? But I am proud of everyone who manages to grab such bargains. :T I've managed to get quite a few on here, like my PAYG mobile phone for £9.99 with £1 credit on it! If I stopped reading so many other MSE threads and just cut to the chase then I'd do better. I'll make this one my main priority from now on
Now, how about this...
I stated earlier that I was going to drag out all my old notes from the very first savings challenge I ever did. It was back in 1999 and was named 'The Scottish Pound'. The Challenge was to feed a family of four on a tenner a week. (I had to come up with a one week meal plan and make sure I could complete it in under £10). It seems so funny to be reading about that challenge after such a long time, but now I want to try to do the exact same menu for one week during 2008 to see just how much the various foods have increased in price. Off to type up the meal plan nowI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Pigsback has been very good to me Nyk, and for anyone who uses the train, you can get half price train tickets through there til 12th Feb. You pay the full amount and then get half back in PB vouchers, which you can use in a range of places. I'm currently saving for a rally driving day for OH for his 25th/graduation, got £150 saved so far!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Thankfully, not a really pig :rotfl: It's a little 'stress pig' called 'Curly' and he arrived in a brown envelope that wouldn't fit through the letterbox. It kind of went about halfway through then got stuck and the envelope burst and out popped the piggy. It didn't help that I had opened the door just as postie was trying to find out if the package would fit! Don't know who felt silliest, him or me, confessing that it was a rubber pig stuck in the letterbox :rotfl:
I think the above adequately demonstrates that 'Curly' couldn't possibly fit through my letterbox whilst wrapped in a big brown envelope LOL If anyone is wondering what, on earth, this has to do with living on £4000 a year, it is classed as free entertainment, a free hobby and a free sport - seeing how ridiculous a place you can photograph your pig!I reserve the right not to spend.
