DDs from ebay went out, 3 on 2nd (£24.41) & 1 on 4th (£26.94) so a total of £51.35.
Only one thing to go out of my account this month (£9.30) so I have left £119.90 till payday excluding any charges that will probably come out
Think I need to do some food shoppping today but I don't need much tolast me for 2 weeks.0 -
I spent £10 at the local butchers on a couple of huge Gammon joints that were half price, one is in the freezer & one being cooked as we speak.
I also spent £5 on special food, for my lodger, I'm now keeping a spread sheet on it to make sure I'm still making a profit, if not she'll have to go!!

MORNINGGGGG all! :T
I am going to work this afternoon (first day back since Boxing day) so even if I don't feel particularly jolly about it, I will force myself to smile and march upwards and onwards.
Had quite a busy and productive morning, collected computer desk from a really nice lady on freecycle, waited in for Asda order and made £3.12 on substitute items (when they don't have an item in stock, if you accept substitutes, they give you a similar item, if that item costs more...which it frequently does...you still pay your original price), I also got free delivery and god knows how many carrier bags to use as bin liners.
Then I washed down cream leather couch (never would buy a cream couch agan having 3 labradors), hoovered the whole house, washed all the utility room walls where dogs like to shake their coats after been out in the rain and have done three washes all of which are either on airers or on the line.
So now I am toddling off to make lunch for me and the family before I venture out into a gorgeous sunny winter's afternoon to earn some pounds.
Hope everybody enjoys their Saturday, the best day of the week.

This thread really caught my interest, then I went cold at the thought of it. Then I got inspired again. Then I did my sums and it DID not seem possible - we're spending way more than £4000, however then I read a post and it suddenly occured that this was for essentials - slightly more manageabe, so, if I could make a few exceptions I'd like to join in too if I may.
We really want to be debt free within the next 18 month, so I have all the inspiration I need for this challenge. We live in the country and run two cars which I have to count as essential. I don't use mine very often, but I do have to take my daughter for a health appointment each week that would cost £48 in public transport and take all day, so the fuel, insurance and running costs of a car for that one journey are much less, and hubby works shifts outside of public transport times (times like this I wish we lived in a city!). Anyway - enough blather, here's what I'm planning - and let me know if its good enough to be included!

Hoping for a NSD today. Have just started bread maker off, and got last portion of veg stew in oven on a slow cook. Will be papering son's bedroom after this coffee (paper and paste bought in dec) Then use last of magnolia paint to finish ceiling in the hallway. The Nursing Registration & the Paramedic Registration costs are essential work related expenses aren't they? if so then they are not required in the £4000 budget.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Penny2myName,
Yes they are! I'd missed that completely! That should make it a little less tight then."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Do not be pursuaded into buying what you do not need or cannot afford." Quaker Faith & Practice 1.02.410 -
Actually, after more thought, can I join this? I'm at uni but I graduate in July and then its out in the real world! I'll try and spend as little as possible, and aim for £4000 for the year. :hello: everyone! My rent is already paid by DD to the uni college place, so I don't need to worry about paying rent/bills/ until July when I move out. so that should make it easier huh? I've paid for my internet as well this term. so my £4000 includes:
- food
- phone bills
- TV License
- clothing
- shoes
- going out
- petrol (when I'm at home)

I have to stop ready what everyone is including coz I keep getting confused lol
I'm not including mobile (as some people are) as I don't have a landline. Anything I HAVE to pay I'm not including, so I suppose my £200 [emergency, extra debt payment, tuition] should be included them.0 -
I must be ill - this is my 5th NSD out of 5
