Anyone got any recommendations for a 10L plus dehumidifier less than £180?

I have my eye on a couple, the MeacoDry ABC 12L and the MeacoDry Arete One 12L

I know the Arete is newer and also has a built in air purifier, and perhaps looks more pleasing to the eye but the ABC is very well rated and has more manual control. Not sure which one is better.

Having recently bought the Arete 12l I would say that if you want it soon stock availability may be your issue ...

(Haven't used it enough yet to form an opinion)

We have a Ebac which we bought in 2008 and use every winter for laundry drying and general use.

If you purchase from Ebac website you get extended warranty and at the moment £40 off models with smart control.

I also have an ebac, however I had to have two repairs in a yea; the machine wont switch off when the canister is full.  That caused a little marking to my wooden floor.  So if you go ebac, empty the canister regularly.

Had this one for over a year and happy with it. Quite compact too. Looks like they do a few models  https://www.aircondirect.co.uk/p/885155/electriq-10l-digital-antibacterial-dehumidifier-for-up-to-3-bed-house-with-humidistat-

Edit: since I posted the linked the model has been updated so I can't vouch for that.
  • Something to consider, have you checked which sort you need? If I remember correctly, there are 2 different types, desiccant or refrigerator. The desiccant ones work better in low temps (I have one of these in my conservatory during the winter), and a refrigerator one in the house (where the temps are more stable).

Not much of a price difference between the 2, so it's more the temps where you'll be running it. I have a Meaco low energy one in the house, and an Inventor one in the conservatory. Both are about 4 years old, both running faultlessly. I would have no issue recommending either of these as a manufacturer.

I have heard the Arete can be a little noisy in comparison, possibly because of the air purifier.

It's for inside the home so I'll be going for the refrigerant type, also mainly because they're cheaper to run.

Compared to what? It is rated very slightly lower than the ABC/ Platinum 12ls.

Meaco dry is brilliant.. recommend it. I used it for years and it's very quiet and cheap to run. If it call them to order sometimes they have damaged box ones and you can get money off 👍
