Principality BS - log in and application issues.

Morning
Well, I thought i'd apply for one of their Regular Savers (Xmas 23), and had in the back of my mind that we'd been with them before.
Couldn't find my log in details, so applied as a new customer. It gave me a user ID, at the end of the application. But then it wanted to me to log in...with the old details.
After rummaging around, I found my old log in details, (same user ID - from 2020) and tried to log in...asked to change password, which I did. OTP code sent and entered, and we're in.
Clicked to apply for the account, and it said "as you don't have any active accounts with us, you need to apply as a new customer" (or words to that effect)
And we're back to square one. Apply as new customer, and we're back in the same loop, of same user ID and password.
What am I missing, or doing wrong here?? Am I alone, or are others having similar issues?
I thought it'd be a quick application....but if it's this much hassle, I think i'll give up!!
I could ring them, but for a max of ~£37 interest, am I bothered.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)

Phoning them is easy and the staff are really helpful and kind. I managed to block access to my account yesterday by putting in the wrong password too often, one swift call (waiting for max of five minutes I reckon) and two minutes later it's all sorted. Are you bothered? I don't know...3

Their site wasn't working properly last night - I couldn't log in nor my OH. And it's on 'maintenance' just now1

The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.2 -
I wondered whether I might be similarly affected as I also had an account with them a few years ago, but I’ve just logged in using the details given when I opened my account as a new customer the other day and all is good. What actually happens if you try logging in using the user ID & password from your new application?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

As an aside, their FHS account has £25K max. I assumed that meant excluding interest, like other providers do. But no, they returned a bit of my final £1k going in.
Have messaged them to ask if it was an oversight? And If not how will they credit interest in future?0 -
I might try again.
Should I be able to apply as an existing customer once logged in, even if I don't have any active accounts? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)0 -

I would have thought that most banks and building societies would require you to have at least one active account with them in order to be considered a member/customer - you might just be in a grey area where you're not actually a member, but your details are still on their system.
It might be worth a quick call to them - when I've had to do this in the past, I've got through to someone really quickly and they were really helpful. Despite having an online banking portal, it's possible that any resetting of your old account may involve having to wait for new details to be sent through the post though, as they still conduct a lot of their banking in a more traditional way.1 -

@Soulsaver I've been considering this account, but it says max balance of £25K. If this includes interest, I'll fund it below the limit. I'd be interested to know what Principality says to you if at all possible please. Thank you
*EDIT*- If the account reaches £25,000, you cannot pay any more money in.
If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

"Once you have saved £25,000 you can't put any more money in"
"If the account reaches £25,000, you cannot pay any more money in."
"We work out the interest on the money in the account daily and pay it into the account on 1st January each year."1
