EON ....The latest con
I have an email saying my DD would go down for the next 6 months to £8 from £73.21 as it would be made up by the Governments 66 pound a month scheme and that i didnt need to do anything ...
low and behold they took the full amount of the 73.21 on the 1st ...the excuse given..."the government dont pay us till the 3rd to the 5th of each month so you cant have it yet !!!!" they actually said this too me !!!!
they said I can ask for a rebate when they get their money from the government but having waited 2 hours for this call I dont believe this will happen !! I am in total shock at the lies told all to keep my money with them . Please can this be flagged up

I'm with EON Next and I noticed the direct debit payment taken this month was higher than agreed.
This month they took £91.34, last month they took £58.00 - so they've effectively increased what they took by £33.33. They certainly didn't ask for my permission or approval to increase it. If I log into my account, it shows October +£58 DD and +£66 rebate - which represents the direct debit I set. If I check my direct debit now, it is set at £91.34 (?), which they've fully taken without rebate.
Similar my sister with EON Next took £100.34, last month they took £36.00.
I'm suprised people aren't up in arms about this - EON previously reduced the DD they took, but presumably now they will be refunding people the rebate or adding it to their balances? It's obviously also an issue to increase direct debits without consent. It put my sister into her overdraft.

Hi,OP, calm down, what normally happens is.you pay your DD as usual, it goes into your electricity account, as usual, then a few days later, you get the refund to your electricity account, and a few more days it goes back into your bank account. If your DD is less than the refund, then you get your DD back to your bank account and the extra stays in your electricity account.Chill, it's not a con, just be patient.1

Fixed Direct Debit customers will receive the money automatically as a deduction to their monthly Direct Debit.
I think there has been a bit of an oopsy made here by EON.Know what you don't0 -

>>> Read what I linked <<<
In case it evades you a third time, from the MSE link:E.on/E.on Next Direct debit reduced automatically
whereasBritish Gas Credited automatically to your bank account about three working days after your direct debit payment is taken
I know they did this, because I have already had a payment taken by EON which was reduced by the rebate amount.
I also directly quoted EON's stance from their website, which reinforces this. We all know BG refund people after the payment is taken, the OP is not with BG. Please stop.

EON ....The latest conExcept you haven't mentioned any con.he excuse given..."the government dont pay us till the 3rd to the 5th of each month so you cant have it yet !!!!" they actually said this too me !!!!Not an unreasonable reason for not paying it to you yet.they said I can ask for a rebate when they get their money from the government but having waited 2 hours for this call I dont believe this will happen !! You won't be doing your blood pressure any good if you are getting wound up by little things like this.
It is a minor servicing issue that will sort itself out shortly without you needing to do a thing.

Unlike British Gas, they've stated that they would reduce the DD payment they take by the rebate amount - shown on their website and as I experienced last month.
E.g. - £150 direct debit would result in £84 physically being deducted from your bank, and the other £66 added to your energy account from the rebate.
This month it appears they have taken the full direct debit (in the example above £150). Obviously taking an additional and unplanned £66 from people in a cost of living crisis is a bit of an issue. It wasn't for me, but it put my sister into overdraft. There will be people that are even worse off than this.
I now see this morning that they have added the government rebate to my energy account - so in the example above, the total put in this month is now £216 despite a direct debit of £150, which is also an issue.
I don't know if this effected all EON DD customers or not (I suspect not as I'm suprised we haven't seen more threads about this), but I'd be interested to know whether or how they intend to remedy this - really they should refund £66 of the money taken (which they might still do).
We'll wait a week and see - little sense calling their CS team as I suspect they're getting absolutely hammered already and they're likely to fix it somehow themselves.Know what you don't1 -
I'm with E.ON Next and they have taken the full amount this month, whereas it says on their site that the DD will have the £66 EPG deducted. It happened fine last month, and my account shows the £66 Support Scheme money in on 1st November, so it's obviously a mistake. Will join the phone queue shortly.0
