BT (British Telecom) are rumored to be connecting the uk with 21CN
Birmingham is 1st the all major cities to follow in 2008.The project as been brought forward. It is also rumored that this package could be free on certain BT tariffs.
So if your thinking of switching broadband provider it maybe worth to wait or try to get a monthly/6mnth deal ( my current free broadband 18nth cash back mobile deal runs out at the end of this month.Orange offered me broadband only for £12.99 for 6 mnth 1st month free = £10.82 pm.2 meg and 6gb usage )

No offence intended, but I cant see this being taken seriously due to the awful spelling and grammer, plus given that BT are doing the 21C anyway as fast as they can so what good do you think this will do?
Good luck though. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
Well if you can explain more about the new CN21 please do.We do not all live in big cities or towns, how and when will rural areas recieve this. All i was doing is forwarding someone else's campaign to give incentive to BT to supply all areas with CN21
Merry Christmas to you too
As for bad grammer::: I work for the BT Customer Options Team. In other words I compare all companies as part of my job. But I have NO loyallty to BT...its only a job for Gods sake, not my family.
Offence taken. This is a public forum i thought i was only doing my bit.But what do i know.Really sorry sir won't happen again sir..
Admin feel free to delete this post due to poor spelling and terrible grammer

One must really practise what one preaches with regards to spelling words like grammAr.0 -
I was refering to the petition, not the post. As far as stuff typed on here goes feel free to make as many !!!! ups as you like (as been shown I do :P).
But look at the petition and see all the errors on it, if you (by you I mean the petition starter) want to be taken seriously then you should at least put in the effort to have a decent write up.
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Give BT government insentive to provide fibre to every UK home.
The UK will lag behind in broadband speed if no fibre network isn't put in place.
See what I mean? It wasnt intended as a pop at the OP and I am sorry he has seen it as such.
Oh, and as far as the 21CN goes BT will be roling it out as much as they can to as many exchanges as they can, but like all new tech it could take a while (hell, not everywhere can even have broadband yet). The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
People need to realise that BT are no longer a government body. Therefore they will only upgrade the network when they feel its necessary for their plans. What people need to do is put pressure on the other ISPs to invest in the network now, they have the facility to do it, however most will not do it because it's cheaper to piggy back off BT.
As for 21CN, naturally they will do the big areas first (more people, it makes more sense to activate them first), and then the rural areas will follow.0 -
I was under the impression that the 21CN is more about BT using VOIP for all phone connections than providing a faster internet service.
The last mile or so will still be copper wire.
I hope I am wrong.0 -
Nope, you are correct. 21CN is about building an a single, converged backbone IP network. It's not about replacing the last mile of copper.0

Yes and its using the cheapest kit they could buy from the Chinese (Huawei). That gum you like is coming back in style.0

frankly virginmedia are the only tech in the near term that can really deliver fast residental speeds. if i recal they could reach 70% of the population if they hung asdl2+ lines off their cabinets as well as the homes they pass at the moment.
frankly with the way broadband prices are going its unlikely you will get people digging up the road to lay fiber to your door.
ive got cable 20 meg and never really use it, when you can grab a film in under 8 mins whats the point, i suppose hidef will soon up this requirement but you could probably stream it on 8 meg0 -
Petitions don't work, and are a complete waste of everybodies time - ask the Jarrow Marchers!0
