  • Am still here. Sorry for being quiet... we got a new puppy.

Swapped our van for a 1981 T3 on Saturday, time will tell if that was a good idea or not...

And I'm booked in for sterilisation surgery on Monday.

    Lots going on. As always.

    Love, Fox x

I also agree that people can choose whether to read or not.

Fox, you are writing a very honest diary which is why you have so many following, readers might not always agree with your decisions along the way but all we can do is offer ideas for you to consider.  Of course, just like real life, people give advice but that's all we can do, we can't be offended or be offensive if it's not taken.

I am still cheering you on!

A 1981 van would, on the plus side, be eligible to be classified as historic (no MOT or tax to pay) although obviously while not having the stress of a test on an older vehicle every year, it needs regular checks and maintenance as Mr Fox would commit an offence if it was used in an unroadworthy condition (plus potential safety risks if that ever were the case.) It isn't automatic and you do have to apply to change the tax class if it hasn't already been done: https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles

To those that commented on the puppy, it's very hard to not have a dog when you've been used to having them. There are health benefits, and Fox sounded particularly low when she last posted. Though it should be no more than one dog while there are debts outstanding and no savings.

Lovely to see you posting again, @foxandflowers. A 1981 VW sounds like a good idea. Often very reliable, lots of second hand parts available and new parts still being made for them. And they tend to hold their value. How do I know? We sold one last year, have one on the drive waiting to go for spray painting, and a minibus one and a camper one in the garage, being fixed up by dadtoomany. All three, that we have now,  were bought for around £1200 each and came as non runners.

Pleased you have a dog back in your lives. Defiantly good for the mental health.

Have you put the house on the market? Or are you rethinking?

I hope you are surviving all the rain we are getting in this part of the world, take care of yourselves, hugs, mumtoomany.xxx.

Hello Mrs Fox, good to hear from you.

Wishing you good luck for your op, hope all goes well.  I was sterilised 10 months after my second son was born. I had struggled over the years with various methods of contraception. They all seemed to have drawbacks or unpleasant side effects, so after deciding I was happy with my two healthy sons and that I didn't want any more children, I was relieved to go for a permanent solution.  I never regretted it or looked back.

WishIng you joy with your new puppy. Pets are good for us, dogs demand to be taken for walks so they can help us keep good exercise habits. And a nice walk in nature with a dog can work wonders for our mental well being.

Re the VW camper van  apparently they are something of a collectors item these days, they can  hold their value very well.

Don't let the more unkind comments upset you.

Some people are blunt but well meaning, others maybe less so.  Try not to let anyone rattle you.  Keep writing your diary if it helps you. Sometimes it can be really worth while to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper as it were because it can give us clarity to see the bigger picture and thinking time before we act too rashly or impulsively.

Keep posting (if you wish). You have people here who are rooting for you and who want you to succeed.
