  • I had wondered why Octopus has said that there would be a minimum of 12 sessions. I hadn't appreaciated that they are all demonstrations. Thank you.

I guess anything over the 12 is unlikely to be a demonstration session.

  • Not possible for me to save anything.. as others have said batteries and solar (although solar lacking today) cover me through that time slot so my existing usage is zero or very close to zero.

Won't be home at 5pm to hit the off switch in the fuse box today but will be interesting to see what Octopus achieves by way of lower demand in that hour

Just checked our 5 - 6pm consumption for the last ten days, 0.21 kWh's total, which in terms of assisting the grid in coping with peaks in demand is great, but leaves us little room to save anything during the one hour slot. Even so, have signed up with the hope of recording a zero demand by ensuring that nothing actually gets switched on, Ok if it's already on or gets switched off. Planning to turn Fridge and Freezer completely off so they don't kick in. Just thought, I'd better check the timing on the Towel rail clocks too. :)

    Edit - total added.

Not fully understanding the point of them being demonstration sessions.
4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.
  • I presume this test will be of interest to see how different the response is from the earlier trial, given that the rewards are greater. It's still only engaged consumers who will be involved, I think, but these things develop their own momentum and hopefully when they are really needed we can all help and make an impact.

Sorry octopus,  the wife decided today that she would charge her car, on the dullest day of the year with the home charger.
Strangely enough come 17:10 my in house display light up saying I'm importing 3.6kw... that can't be right, there's only the oven and hob on, batteries will cover that.

    Oh no, batteries are pancaked.
    🤬

So yeah octopus call for less electric than I'd usually use.... which is zero, and instead I'm gonna be using 5-6kw in the hour.

Fingers crossed the next session is at a similar time, and in the next 10 weekdays!

And did you read the bit about them charging you an extra £3 per unit if you opt in then increase your usage😉

Mine now says sorry but we weren't able to retrieve readings during the saving session, I assume we need to wait until tomorrow for the data?
