I love BeneFit makeup, but I go and have a makeover, showing lots of interest in what's being used, taking note of the colours I like. I then go home, and buy them from e-bay at a lesser cost. For instance I recently got three benefit eye cremes for less than the price of one from e-bay. The lipstick colour I like is £11.50 in the shops, but I paid less than £4.00 on e-bay. Might be worth doing this if theres a branded make up that you really like. I know theres lots of Mac on there:D
Anyway my excusse for buying it is all the money I have saved in Tescos and the like since using this site.:rolleyes:0 -
I was reading in the vinegar site a couple of weeks ago if you mix 1/2 part cider vinegar to 1/2 part water it makes a good toner/astringent for your face. Thought I might try it once I've run out of what I'm using now. If you have pimples, dissolve an aspirin in it and this is suppose to work wonders as well.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

Soluble aspirin dissolved in water can be used to calm a shaving rash, just use it to soak a piece of cotton wool.0

Just posting this book, as mentioned in the Christmas Support Thread.
The Ultimate Natural Beauty Book: 100 Gorgeous Beauty Products to Make Easily at Home by Josephine Fairley.
I've not made anything from it yet, but I really like the book, and it has interesting information on herbs and plants that can be used (including some tips on growing them), and an extensive list of suppliers. The products are largely uncomplicated, with some more fiddly than others. Some might be a little pricey, perhaps, but others much less so.

Do you have a TJ Huges near you as they sell on cosmetics cheap.
Also I find tesco's own brands of bubble bath and shampoos are nice. Not tried their value stuff as a lot of it looks like washing up liquid!
I recommend signing up to various websites that send out freebies. https://www.lancome.co.uk is oggd and regularly sends vouchers for free stuff at their counters.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Wash your hands first, so that you don't transfer dirt from your fingers onto your face.
Then if you use cotton wool or make up remover pads to apply cleanser or toner on your face........make sure you turn the pad/ball over to use both sides and save on cotton wool/pad and also the cleanser/toner product......which will have soaked through.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. One word of warning about making your own toiletries, etc. I started doing this last Christmas for pressies, and now I make things for myself and hubby too (bath salts, body scrubs and lip balm mostly) and they went down very well, but here's the problem....I am so proud of my lovely creations that I can't resist giving them out to all my friends and family!
It's quite a nice problem to have actually! And I got some fab things in return from some friends on the weekend when I gave them some lip balm I'd made.(Have to say my in-laws aren't all quite as generous in return for my creations, so maybe you have to be careful with who you give them away to!)

Gosh I think we have the same in laws!!
I make homemade soap using the best ingredients I can find, including ingredients like fair trade butters from Africa, and what did my inlaws say recently (bearing in mind they have been having my freebies for years)..... Dont put any exfoliating bits in your next lot, we dont like them!
Everyone else think the soap is a real treat though. And the body butters etc? well I keep those for me!0 -
Oooh - how can I make my own? I have dry and sensitive skin and want to make my own moisturiser (face) and cleanser - maybe even a body butter.
Any ideas?MFW #185

The funny thing is now I spend next to nothing (Tesco cleanser, 70p!) my skin doesn't look any different!
Hello - I've been on a diet for all of 2006, so I've been eating more fruit and veg and drinking lots of water.
My skin looks massively better.
I have tried a variety of cosmetic prodcts before and I'm convinved that what you put IN your body has a far greater impact than what you put ON it.0
