Gas meter/bills
Hi, could someone assist me to help friends work out their gas bill pls? I don't have gas so unsure about cubic etc.
Their DD went from £124pm to £418pm (they "only" expected approx double).
They submitted a meter reading on 1st October of 45694. The reading tonight is 45849.
They are on capped rate of 28.48p / 10.28
Thanks

They use a *lot* of gas. From Jan 2021 to Jan 2022 they used 42,343kWh - that's three-and-a-half times as much as the average household. At current rates, and including the standing charge, that will cost about £4500 a year - which is £375 a month. However if they've only been paying £124 a month they might have arrears on their account and paying off those will make the monthly cost higher.N. Hampshire, he/him. The direct debit is not unrealistic.
They used from 14/01/2021 to 13/01/2022 42343KWh (3.5 times the Ofgem typical gas usage).
42343 x 10.28p = £4352.86 + £103.70 standing charge = £4456.56
That makes it £371.48 per month. Add to that a potentially cold winter and £418 per month is realistic.2 -
Thank you, I'll pass it on 😕0

Time for your friends to turn that thermostat down ! (or even turn the heating off)

What would the cost be from 1st October to today using readings in opening post pls?
They say they have cut back since start of month.0 -
What is a bit scary is their average usage of 56KWh daily between 1st of April and 30 September during summer.
Where are you located, I can't really see how you can use this much just for hot water and maybe cooking. Were they still heating in April and May, and maybe started already in September?1 -
These are the exact meter readings for ref0

This month they used in average 62KWh per day (£186.41 / 1736KWh)1
