Hummingbird0_12 said:Thanks so much Sue and Ant, your good wishes mean a lot, I'm usually a resilient person but haven't been just recently! I will definitely ring E.On and ask for this voucher to be sent again if necessary. I topped up with both
gas & electric again today so I'm warm and toasty at the moment 😊 H xLife gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25714 -
Fab total for last year! I added 40p to the actual physical pot - not much, but it adds up!
Merry Christmas potters, enjoy the festive period!

I'm very sorry @Hummingbird0_12 and I hope you allow yourself the time to grieve and not be too hard on yourself, as allowing yourself to process and experience the difficult times is also a sign of resilience, and if you need a good cry then do so. I lost my dad a few years ago and I still find Christmas and his birthday hard, or even sometimes just when we meet for a family meal and he's not there. So you're in my thoughts. I'm glad you've got heating now, but EON definitely need to step up, as posting vouchers in this technological era, with known ongoing strikes is nonsensical.
Thank you for all your efforts with the admin and running this thread @Sue-UU, I can't believe we potted over £28k in a cost of living crisis! Well done everyone, that's inspiring me for next year.
£5 for me today as the fiver was unspent for the last 2 weeks.

Had a false alarm yesterday with 5p roadkill which turned out to be plastic Monopoly type money

Thanks so much Keedie & LMD 💜 These forums help us in lots more ways than the money advice. Hopefully I can start saving a little bit again soon, sad to say I have taken out what I had put aside since we started this new challenge. Good I had it there though! Yes @Hummingbird0_12 I find these forums a lifesaver at times and it's so nice to connect with lovely people that you would never be able to know about if it wasn't for this platform. You're doing well with your £2 coins and just take it as it comes in terms of how you're feeling ❤️.
Sorry about the false alarm @AntoMac, but glad fate gave you an alternative 🤗.
£7.75 potted today as I cleared out my purse had 2x £2 coins, 1x 50p and some other spare change. I honestly don't remember getting that many 5ps!

Good morning everyone and a Merry Christmas!
Condolences to those who have suffered a loss.Hummingbird, I do hope that Eon get it sorted for you - and quickly! What a palaver. What a superb amount we all saved through the last challenge. No mean feat, given the circumstances for us all.I hadn’t potted for ages, considering that I was keeping hold of some money “just in case”. My savings for SPC15 generally go towards Christmas and spending money for a holiday, but I didn’t want to pot in case of an emergency. Fortunately, I’ve just been able to pot £93 because of Christmas being paid for! It’s virtual savings as, like the Queen used to, I rarely carry cash.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared4 -
Ah just got you before I shut up shop so to speak, Vicky! An excellent sum not potted!!PLEASE TAKE NOTE of this ENTIRE POST!!*******************************************A cery good Christmas Eve to all!! I hope you're all ready for Christmas, and are all ready for the BIG DAY!Have a good day today and a wonderful day tomorrow as well as Monday, Boxing Day!For any one poorly or low in any way, do take very great care and get well soon! From us all, best wishedI quite agree with Ant, Hummingbird, and was so tempted to advise you to pay by DD for gas & electricity, far cheaper. If you can do, please do!The forecast is for the cold to be back on Monday, so beware!!Thanks very much indeed, Ant, though £28 is the least the Total has been for many years! We've Totalled at around £49,000 for several years, last year was a lot less, but to me this year was way less but not our faults!! I'm still immensely pleased and proud of what we achieved, but can't see it being any higher for as long as the COL continues!Hi MrsShazbat, I'm pleased you've got Christmas all finished with, good for you. It's good to hear you're still saving well in every way. I'm really pleased the colds have gone. Enjoy your Christmas!Wise words to Hummingbird, LMD!40p is very good potting so never knock it, it's 40p more than I added! 😂I'm so pleased the Grand Total has inspired you on for 2023, Keedie, that's all that matters for all our members, and it's definitely the most important thing for me. So many thanks for your very kind words.I so agree with your words about that missing person in loved ones not at the table when the table any longer. I find including them when relevant helps so much. Our dear friends have lost their 2 sons during the past 7 years, one 50 to cancer, the other was downs syndrome, was 57, their only children! They incorporate them so much in normal conversation that it's really quite wonderful especially with things they used to do when they were young.Excellent work in potting what you didn't spend!!Bad luck Ant!!I'm so pleased you had the money potted to help you out, Hummingbird! I quite agree about message boards and the comments made, it's the same with YouTube. This year's Grand Total was£28.353.16!!A really good amount considering the year we've had, and the members who have gone, possibly for the same reason. We've still a great deal to be proud of. 😊Please note: From this year on, the last day to Declare savings by will be the DECLARATION DAY, You can declare before by all means, but no later!*******************************************A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, folks,A SAFE HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!🎅🎄☃️SueNB folks: Opening date for SPC 16 is 26TH October 2023! BEFORE if you wish BUT NO LATER PLEASE!Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late!
So please just ask and you
will be made very welcome.*************************************PLEASE TAKE NOTE of this ENTIRE POST!!***************************************Sealed Pot Challenge 001 My Totals = 08 = £163.95 09 = £315.78 10 = £518.80 11 = £481.87 12 = £694.53 13 = £1200.20! 14 = £881 15 = £839.21 16 = £870.48 17 = £871.52 18 = £800.00 19 = £851.022021=£820.26[/SizeGrand Totals of all members (2008 uncounted) 2009 = £32.154.32! 2010 = £37.581.47! 2011 = £42.474.34! 2012 = £49.759.46! 2013 = £50.642.78! 2014 = £61.367.88!! 2015 = £52.852.06! 2016 = £52, 002.40!! 2017 = £50,456.23!! 2018 = £47, 815.88! 2019 = £38.538.37!!!! :j7 -
On the subject of 5ps I have an awkward quantity left over from the last SPC.
They remind me of the old sixpences. Maybe @Sue_UU or @Makingabobor2 remember them? Most of the others are likely too young to remember! Of course a ‘bob’ was 5p, so ‘ten bob’ was 50p
A sixpence was worth……….. of course two and a half pence! That makes sense, doesn’t it?… Said no one! There were two hundred and forty pence in a pound I believe, although I’m not quite old enough to remember that!Used to love finding the sixpence in my Christmas pudding which was meant to mean good luck. Of course now I realise that Mum happened to make sure I got the sixpence, but at the time it was magical27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 55
