Hi everyone.
I've already lost count of the amounts in both my tins (a big one for small change and a small one for silver). Hopefully I won't fill them up too soon this time....or maybe I should!
It's been a rubbish month for me unfortunately. Actually rubbish is an understatement. After 3 months in and out of hospital (mostly in), my 85 year old Mother passed away on Wednesday. I should be upset, but I'm partially relieved. Despite catching Covid & Pneumonia numerous times on top of all her other ailments, the nursing home staff said Mum passed away peacefully while having a nap in the afternoon.
The past few months, Mum was very bitter, she didn't understand how the council could make someone pay for their own care - savings she said she worked hard all her life for, and a house too. She only moved to the care home the week earlier, now they get neither. I think it's what Mum would have wanted. But while she died peacefully on her own, no one got to say goodbye. I'm not sure if I'm being selfish saying that.
Take care all
xx

@rancid-a that sounds as though you have had a rough time. Your mum sounds as though she was a tough wee cookie and I can understand why she was pretty ticked off at the council.
Don't feel guilty at being relieved, it is really hard when we watch our lived ones suffer, we just want the suffering to stop. You are not being selfish about being upset you weren't able to say goodbye. You will be able to make sure she gets the send off she deserved.
Please, please be gentle on yourself over the next few weeks x2023 Frugal Living Challenge

I'm very sorry to hear about your mum @rancid-a, and I can imagine how hard things are at the moment and how much you and your mum had to battle in the last few months. But I completely understand the relief, I miss my dad so much but he was barely existing at the end and I was so grateful that he was no longer suffering. It is sad that you were unable to say goodbye, but as she died peacefully in her sleep, it is comforting to know that she did not suffer. And like RavenRover said, you can give her a fitting send off.

So sorry to hear about your dear mum, James, very sad indeed, though a really lovely way for her to go. I can understand that it's some what of a relief for you, though it'll quite possibly hit you further down the line. I can understand your sadness about her dying alone, but be content at her passing away during a nap, a lot to be said for that for you both.I can see her point about those having saved all their lives having to pay for their home care, not easy at all.For now, please know we're here for you, and please don't worry about sounding selfish, at the moment you've got a great deal on your mind.No worries about your potting, whatever the amount it will be good!Sincere condolences James and take great care.So sorry to hear of your dad's sad passing, Keedie, but I agree, it's a relief to see them no longer suffering.Very good potting LMD!SueNB folks: Opening date for SPC 14 is 26th October 2021! BEFORE BUT NO LATER PLEASE!Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late!
So please just ask and you will be made very welcome.
