    Similar thing here.

Usually they take £0.99p and then deduct the full amount the next day. But recently they put a hold of £120 in your account but they only deduct what you paid for even though on the day it says £120. Your bank balance shouldn't be £120 down though

Within 24hours usually if you check your balance again it won't say £120 but the actual amount.

And queue for ages behind someone doing almost a weekly shop ?  It is bad enough waiting to get to a pump whilst they are doing their shopping :(

  • I stupidly used pay @ pump with tescos last wednesday and they put the £120 fee on. The money for the petrol was taken the next morning, but 7 days on the £120 is still pending in my account! neither tescos or chase want to do anything about this as they both say its the otherside that has to close the transaction. This feels like theft to me as i have had the money taken for the petrol but have £120 that i cannot use?!!! disgusting and now at a loss as i have no idea what to do.......
  • Credit card payment only now, it’s that simple.

It's only temporary and not dishonest so it's not theft.

The new £120 is a lot better with higher fuel prices.

Filled the family car up with diesel and it came to £118.80 which I topped up to £119.00. Otherwise I would have had to make 2 transactions on £99 limits.

OP's Available balance will be down £120 as that includes authorisations.

Time frame for the change will depend on when the transaction is. Don't forget weekends, will delay the process. 👍

This morning I put £20 diesel into my car at Tesco Tetbury. It was so expensive at £1.949, so decided to fill the remainder of the tank elsewhere.  However, although I only bought £20 of fuel, I soon discovered that Tesco automatically deducted £120 from my account.  I have the receipt. Six phone calls later, and I managed to make contact with Customer Service who told me that it's now "standard practice to take £120 before fuel is dispensed, and that I should have seen it publicised a year ago!"  "The refund should be made back to my account within 1-2hrs, but 5 hours on, I'm still waiting. He helpfully suggested that, if there was a risk that there was only £120 in my bank account, to buy shopping from Tesco store before filling up, so that I would be without fuel rather than food!!  Luckily, I do have more than £120 in my account, but many have not and, this ridiculous advance charge could see those less fortunate incur overdraft charges, or worse.  Surely, this can't be genuine practice?  It must be a mistake in programming of the machines.  This is a new build garage, with no kiosk or staff and Pay @ Pump is the only option.

    Hello
How long did it take to go back on?

10 days later I'm still waiting for £120 to go back into account fro pending transactions.
The bank tell me to ask Tesco, Tesco tell me to ask the bank. Going around in circles & not getting anywhere.
    Happy New Year.

But there have probably been only 3 working/banking days in that time so you may need to wait a few days longer until the hold drops off.
