Dipping the spoon in is the best bit, means there is a syrupy spoon to lick clean afterwards
It could be all in my mind but I don't think it tastes the same out of a squeezy bottle. Likewise ketchup.

I think golden syrup has always been golden syrup ( at least T&l's has)It always stuck out in my mind because I'd never seen it anywhere other than in my Grandma's cupboard. This was in the 70's and it was in a plastic jar so wouldn't have been something that had been lurking in the back of her pantry for decades. My Grandad used the empty jars for screws and such

My black treacle is bbe June 2016. It's used once a year for Christmas pudding, and there's a year or 2 left in it yet.
My lazy Christmas pudding as I don't make them any more - I buy a basic supermarket one, add a good dollop of black treacle, a good dollop of brandy, and whatever dried fruit I have (usually also out of date). Then a few hours in the slow cooker. Rich, dark and lovely, and I've not had to buy lots of different ingredients.
